Who would buy a certified 2011 Ducati 848 w/ termi's 6500KM in the winter

Ducati super and sport bikes are not easy to sell privately unless they are aggressively priced.

^^^^^^ :headbang:

Thanks for the responses everyone.
Definitely gives me a better idea of what to expect
I thought with the low KM's and the termi's I could swing $10K but it seems that isn't possible
Perhaps I'll wait till spring to try my luck then

I heard one at the gas station last week. What a horrible sounding thing.

You think? Have you heard a Porsche an idle? She sounds like a sewing machine..but once you press the pedal ohboyohboy...same with the Fiat500 Abarth:p

The mentality motorcyclists have for trying to sell bikes in spring is odd to me, because everyone who knows anything about buying bikes knows that the prices are inflated in spring :\ So are we all trying just to sell to newbs?

So, hypothetically, everyone tries to sell their 7k bikes in April for 10k - wouldn't that mean that the market is now flooded with over priced bikes?

Wouldn't supply/demand somehow correct this, and you'll end up haggling with a dude and selling for 7k, anyway?

A majority still ends up listing their bikes in the fall/winter, hence the downward pressure on prices. People can't really help themselves.

And this year might be even worse with the insurance companies driving up premiums at incredible rates. OP might have a good idea by attempting to sell now at a somewhat inflated price before the bottom drops out (a distinct possibility) in spring when renewals are due.

Even a Lada made 500 would spank it.

lol..that was mine sarcastic joke..funny think is, i don't even own a FIAT! lol
Anyway what we were talking about? Oh yes Cager already made up his mind selling his bike in the spring..so end of discussion;)

Ducati super and sport bikes are not easy to sell privately unless they are aggressively priced. You *might* be able to get $10K privately but it'll take some time, if at all. Not a chance though that a price like that will get someone to pounce on it right now.

You might have some better luck with consignment with a GTA Ducati dealer, but of course, they take a cut too, if they do it.

I believe you are a Duc owner too, but let's be serious for a second... a 5 year old previous gen bike is not going to fetch $10K.
Duc is a premium brand and with that you will have 5x the tire kickers who are not the target buyer but are "looking for a steal".

I think if OP can get $8K it's worth letting go. 1098's can be had for 10k

uhhh... If demand is high (like in the spring) prices will rise. If demand is low (like now) prices will drop.

If your moving to a different city, not out of province, why not just move the bike. or store it here for the winter and pick up in the spring? hmm..

6500km's is really low given the year, why so low? has it been crashed and repaired? engine blew and repaired? 6500 km's brings out my spidey sense something is not right. is there any thing we should know about?

It has NEVER been crashed or repaired. I just don't ride enough. I put less than 500KM on it last year. Your spidey sense is wrong I'm afraid. Sometimes there are weirdos like me that live downtown work downtown and only stay downtown.

I'm moving to another city and don't want to bother throwing it in a U Haul.

I bought a motorcycle privately in December, a Ducati also (imagine that). Bought a 2012 Monster 1100 EVO, low mileage for a fair price given the mods done to it. I'll sell my other Ducati in the spring. Buying a used bike is all about timing, doesn't really matter what time of year you're in. You need to find someone who is looking to unload their bike quickly to get a deal. Guys who are in no rush to sell can afford to ask top $. Guys who need $ for tuition/baby/bail/crack/mortgage sometimes have to bend over a little bit.
