Who here has made the move from a sports touring to a cruiser?

I switched from a CBR250R to a Yamaha Stryker. I love the comfortable cruiser seating position, I love the looks, and at 1300cc's, there's no want for power. When I'm on the road, I feel as noticeable as a tractor trailer. I never cared much about cornering hard, so the loss in maneuverability was no big deal to me.

The Triumph Speedmaster is a gorgeous bike. I thought about buying one, but the parallel twin engine doesn't have that same V-twin burble. That was a deal-breaker for me.

Good luck with your decision.

Having tried a shadow 750 I can't fathom any reason why anyone would. Maybe a Vmax or diavel might do it for me...when I'm 50.

My exact thoughts.Thank you for your wise comments. Till you ride one it is amazing when you through your leg over it.Not quite the same as humping but never-the-less a pleasant surprise.lol.

Haha - was very pleasant surprise. I rode Monster 1100 right before it and it even scared me a little bit. Diavel on the other hand - plenty of power with friendly delivery, can still scare you silly while trying to rip your arms off when accelerating from 120 :-) And never expected steering like that from cruiser (that if you can even call it cruiser) - telepathic, no less.

IMHO, Diavel is more is a Naked or Standard Bike than a true classic cruiser. One of the key differences between a Standard or Cruiser is the forward controls. Once you start moving them back to a more "standard" position you get into a Standard bike.

I think Diavel is new kind of cruiser, kind of reminded me of V-Max just way more agile and light. I agree that itis more of a mix between cruiser and standard. On controls I disagree - you can see plenty of standard controls on brand new HD's - I rode several of them this year and only one had forward controls.
I believe main differences between cruiser and standard are rake and height.

There would be a want if you hadn't come from a 250.

I had a 2004 VN2000. Not enough cornering clearance. And to be honest I wish I still had it, but NOT as my only bike. I was never really comfortable being associated with the other crew members of the Black Pearl.
