Where's Wingboy?

Figured out how to enable all of my trips tracked points on google maps.
Did you at least wave when you passed by my house?

Follow up review of my Klim Krios helmet.
The visor ratchet mechanism doesn't hold the visor up anymore. Apparently it's a very common problem. The only fix is to replace the worn out side plates with new ones which are no longer available.
Bummer.

Sounds like a business opportunity for someone with a 3D printer!

Maybe? @Wingboy, pics of part? Without a laser scanner, time required to create the model may make the project economically not viable.

Stuff like this usually comes from someone making it for themselves and then making more to sell is easy. Unlikely to be a full-time business. There's a guy who sells detents for flight simulator throttles, for example, but it's a sideline.

I don't think it would be possible. The design is dependant on the visor. The little tab that fits into the notches of the visor is too small.

Yuck. I've done similar before. I printed in a bunch of different planes to see what I liked best. That one happened to be for a shower door with encapsulated roller. Made a few extra. Original is still working.

Is that tab just a clicker that presses against a rack or does it go through the visor? If it was printed so the bottom of the bowtie slot was parallel with the table, it would probably hold up ok. Modelling that shape isn't a five minute problem for me though. Lots going on (and the helmet side may have a compound curve).

Ya, it's just a clicker. Thanks for thinking about it. I've got another helmet i can use.

Bernadette and i are having a fantastic time in the Smokies about 30 min southeast of Robbinsville. Our "cabin" is 10 star. Fireplace, tv, hot tub and bbq out on the deck. Pool table upstairs. Jacuzzi in the bedroom, etc etc etc. It's on a big hillside. I needed 4wd 3/4 throttle to get up.
Lots of pullouts on 129 to let the 2 wheel types get by. Bernie wouldn't flash Killboy on the dragon. Lol.

Got back last nite from Cherokee Lodge 1/2 hour from the dragon. Very quiet and private. 1/4 mile drive up 565 feet of gravel driveway.
We did a lot of the local roads and i will never do hwy129 again. We saw herds of elk up near Pigeon Forge, and had a lot of deer at our cabin every morning.
Highly recommended!

Why is 129 never again?

Where's Wingboy? Not at the barber.

Life is pretty good lately. But grief will always be a part of my life. And the effects of close family not being able to deal with thier grief is wearing thin on me.
Heading north to a water access cabin for a while (4 wheels) to get away from it.
Off the grid with a fishing rod looks good.Screenshot_20230803-155949_Gallery.jpg

A week off the grid was good. Onaping Lake is awesome. Lots of fish, beer and sauna.
