Where to ride in March? Deals Gap too cold?

A previous poster hit it on the head -- mountains = good roads = unpredictable weather.

I have done the run from Sedona to the Grand Canyon a couple of times on my bike in summer -- some great turns. But even there, one can encounter snow in March.

I recommend having plans A, B and C. Choose right before going based on weather reports.

In March, there's very few places within a one day's drive that you aren't taking a chance with the weather.

You need to get at least as south as Washington/Virginia area before you can be sure of the weather at that time of year and that's a loooong day's drive.

Yeah, I'm prepared for a long day of driving. I've driven to south Florida without stopping but that was several years ago, when I was a younger man.:(
I consider Deal's Gap to be one days drive. It'll be a long day, but totally doable.

I totally agree. The entire trip is up in the air, even if can get away or not. If I do get the chance, I'll make my decision, as far as where to go, at the last moment. If I get to my planned destination, and the weather sucks, I'll just carry on driving.

or rent a Corvette/Mustang/Other fun rear-wheel goodness ;)

What I asked the rental company for, wasn't what they ended up giving me ... actually, I'd rather have the future car that we're building pre-production parts for, but that's getting into some areas that we can't talk about :D

ive ridden around blairsville ga and dahlonega ga extensively...imho MUCH BETTER than deals.
more variety of corners and routes and much less congested...also very little popo presence. we stayed in a cabin at vogel state park...real nice.
avg temp for blairsville in march...hi 60 low 34 according to the weather channel website

it used to have a real backwoods feel years ago, but i think atlanta money is starting to make the area feel more like cottage country and less like "deliverance"....if you go be sure get some peanut brittle from the store near the park!

We spent the week in Daytona for Bike Week last year then spent 3 days in Robbinsville NC
Weather in NC was great
That was in the first half of the month
Lots of great riding and I didn’t find it all that cold

Thanks for the replies. It sounds totally doable in mid March. I am going to wait until a few days before I want to leave to book anything.
There's a possibility that I may be starting a new job soon, which means no trip at all in March.
