M1 is just written test, no bike required. Depending on how long their license was expired for they might be able to write their M1 and do their M1 exit (M2) test (bike required, parking lot/little bit of road test) in the same day! They can then do their M2 exit (full M) test a week later as well.

The M1 only lasts for 90 days at which point you can just re-write it for a tiny fee and they'll extend it another 90 days. I had my M1 for 3 years continuous.

If your friend needs to rent a bike for the M1 exit (M2) test: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforu...-bikerentals&p=2064428&viewfull=1#post2064428

Thanks for your reply! ... I am lending my bike , and I find there are some "good to know" points that GTAM forum people bring up... that some "guys" who have been riding for years won't be aware of...
so... He told me that he had to book, and pay for the M2 test at the time he did the M1, or something like that.. I need to get details from him ....

but from what you say.... "write their M1 and do their M1 exit (M2) test (bike required, parking lot/little bit of road test) in the same day!" he wouldn't have the bike to complete the test.. so I suspect they took his money for the M2 test and booked it a week away... knowing he could borrow my bike.

Ok,, what is involved with the parking lot.. road test? is it the push the bike around the pylons... then put the speaker in the helmet,, ride the road with a vehicle behind ..... which sounds like a M2X

Yeah, they charged him for his M1 exit (M2) test when he got his original M1. If he never did his M1 exit (M2) test, then they will credit him and he won't be charged for his "new" M1 exit (M2) test. If he DID have his M2 and that's what expired, then he will have to pay for his M2 test again. If it's been less than a year since his license expired he won't be required to wait the minimum 60 days to do his M1 exit (M2) test, and won't be required to wait the 18 months for the M2 exit (M) test either.

The M1 exit (M2) parking lot part is swerve bike through pilons, accelerate then stop on white line, identify parts of bike (they deducted a mark for me not identifying fuel shut off? on my 08 R6? lol). The street is just ride down the street, turn down one street, come back to test center. Like 2 mins (speaking of Oshawa test center). No headset, they just watch you from the side of the road/parking lot and see how you do.

Super.. He had a full M when it was revoked... he took the course to get his lic. originally...
all my family did as well...so they have that experience with the added help of gtam.. I was licensed before graduated licensing..
so, if you don't have a fuel shutoff.. you should point to where is might be , if equipped! lol... ?

I guess so? I've never owned anything with a fuel shut off, so when they asked me to point at it I just pointed at my key/ignition, that shuts the fuel pump off no? lol.

Just went through to M1 process.

Wrote about it here: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforu...udes-MTO-Drive-Test-M1-Exit-test-description)

Written test: buy the book, learn it, live it, love it. All the questions are from the book. Also get the G book: they test you on the road signs and some other stuff. One of my questions was how far from a fire hydrant can you park? The brainless stuff we have all forgotten over the years.

The written test isn't hard if you know the details from the book. Know the different blocking position for the different situations, know who goes where for group riding, and stuff like that.
