When do dealership sales happen?

For those of you that watch the market, I'm just trying to plan my future purchase. I know sales have been happening from late July to now. Are there any sales during Jan to Feb?

Usually sales occur around the time of the motorcycle shows, December and January.
That said, deals can always be had.
Check out Kijiji and autotrader and look for the bikes that have been listed the longest
They are usually looking to make a deal on something that has sat in inventory for a while.

If I bought a motorcycle from a dealership, how exactly would that work? Assuming I don't want to ride it home in snow lol (esp. with brand new slippery tires)

a lot of places will throw in storage until the next riding season starts. that being said, not all places do this. if your heart is set out on purchasing from a stealership... i mean dealership.. i would definitely wait for the next show. haggle em down as low as you can.

Sales for outgoing models happen now to end of September.
Good deals on the new models, when they come out later this year, can be had over the winter when no one is buying until end of March. Dealers are willing to deal until then since the inventory they have (all financed) remains interest free until April 1, so they do want to arrange a deal before then and for you to pick up the bike in April. I bought mine over the phone in February during a howling storm and picked it up in April.

The real question is..."when isn't there a sale?" spring sale, summer sale, fall sale...motorcycle show sale, holiday sale, fathers day sale, mothers day sale, moving sale etc.....

If you walk in with cash, they'll make a deal. I did that with my first bike and managed to get it below MSRP, with shipping across Canada thrown in for no additional cost. Money talks.

I'm 100% gonna pay completely in cash (and maybe a trade in, not sure on this yet).

Weird thing is I found brand new GSXR-750s for below MSRP @ HillCrest, that's what got me wondering if those prices are normal.

On the flip side, Markham Outdoor Power has CBR600RR and 1000RRs for MSRP prices on display =/

Funny that I always see GSXRs and Ninjas on big sales at the end of the year, but Yamaha and especially Honda very rarely go on such super-sales.

MSRP - Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price
This price includes a large markup to provide a margin for profits. It is usually enough to cover the finance charges that the dealer has to pay, their costs to inventory a vehicle, freight (Though most will charge again for this amount) etc.

It is not unusual to see showroom prices below MSRP. That way they can make you feel like you're getting an incredible deal. :)

there was a sale on new 2011 model ninjas 600cc last week for $9100 with tax.
i forget what dealership but i think msrp is 12 or 14 on them?
