Whats up with toronto motorcycle police?

Been seeing a LOT more toronto police on motorcycles this year, more than the past 10 years combined I would say....
In the past they were also mostly on old harleys, this year they seem to have all upgraded to fast BMWs

I see them almost everyday now, riding around in large numbers, doing what seem like drills or practice runs on the Gardener/Lakeshore area
Shutting down large sections of the highway for some sort of pre planned practice event

Im all for more riders in the police force, just curious as to whats going on. I dont think it has anything to do with fifa 🤷‍♂️

My guess is futbol World Cup.

I also got impressed when I saw them riding BMWs instead of the Harleys.

My favourite is them wearing minimal safety gear and riding side-by-each cruiser style, rather than staggered. Yes, please, preach to me about road safety!

Well 2 things, world cup, and the moto cop division is at the exhibition, so if you are in that area you will see them.
That 1 station covers the entire city. They probably don't get to far from there though.
Kinda surprised they switched from Harley's to BMW's, unless HD priced themselves out of business.

I know a guy who actually hid the fact that he had an M license so he WOULDN'T be made a bike cop...

Can you imagine?

"What, you want me to spend my whole shift riding around town on a cool motorcycle YOU'RE going to pay for just to be seen and you're going to pay me?

No thanks"

Turning a hobby into a job may ruin the hobby.
TPS is kinda funny, they actually prefer non riders so they can teach them from the ground up and not start off with bad habits.

Guessing its due to World Cup. Remember see a bunch during the Pam Am game a while back. That's the time they rush putting in the HOV lanes.
Don't forget to wave!

May have to do with that it is hard to slip in a covert nap during your shift on a motorcycle.
Cops and firefighters are the kings of side gigs and have a habit of catching up on their sleep while on the clock.

When they're not on tinder or stalking women 🤷‍♂️

And to frighten you even more I see on H-D Canada they`ve now included freight and dealer set up. Takes a Low Rider ST from $29999 to $31599. Add on tax and whatever else they can clip you with...... see ya later.

Well, to be fair, every dealer adds freight + PDI.

Base price for a 2026 Goldwing is $29,299
Freight + PDI is $1,376 ($1,432 if financed)

Will take it up to $30,731 before taxes.

Yes, the government requires all "hidden costs" to be disclosed now, except the tax and license fee. But Harley's freight and PDI still manages to be more expensive than Honda's, even though they're coming from Milwaukee and not across the ocean.

The OPP tested the Beemers and Yamaha FJR's, before ditching HD.
Yamaha lent a dozen, new, '23 fjr's to the OPP for testing.
I bought one of the "test" bikes. It had 16km on it. (not much of a test ride)
They gave the yami a shot, but they'd already tested the bmw, and bmw won.

Traded my FJR for a K1600. Never looked back. Not slamming the FJR. Great bike. But designed in the early 2000's with few updates. Redesigns cost money. Yamaha got their investment back decades ago.
