Whats up with Port Dover ?

I wonder if it will be as clean and shiny the day after, as it was last time I went, with the new organizers.

Just four days to Friday the 13th and this is P.Dovers web site. It looks like no one has set anything up.

I heard that the group that ran it in the past walked away this year but something has to be going on.

rumour has it the folks who normally 'shut things down' aka keep cars out, shuttle people in, etc are not running it anymore. So basically, the town is open as any other day, but god knows the bikes will still be there. Just may be more general public passing through. Thing dover about 8 years ago before they started the shuttling and closing of the streets to anything with 4+ wheels.

probably.

Don't get me wrong, I love riding, I just don't enjoy riding in the rain. I don't have proper rain gear anyway. It's one thing to get caught in an unexpected shower or downpour, it's happened to me before, I just don't make it a point to ride if it's already wet out.

Very sad kamikaze, aren't we?...lol.

I'm going rain or shine

I've never been before. Based on the pics, this definitely doesn't look like a place for sport bikes. Correct me if I'm wrong. A lot of cruisers and not a lot of people with helemts and gear. Any sport bikers here go to this thing? What do you do for gear? Bring it with you? Leave it on the bike? Ugh

If the weather is OK and I finish work early, I may go and check it out.
If not, oh well. There will be another PD13 I am sure.

You are correct. People on all sorts of other types of bikes show up down there, and they can think whatever they want. It doesn't matter, any bike enthusiast is welcome, yes... but you are going to be outnumbered heavily by cruiser riders, and mostly the ones who are there to show off how tough they are... or how good they are at riding Harley's after pounding 14 beers.

No offense to anyone going, just trying to give an honest opinion of what Friday the 13th is...

The bottom line is it's no random coincidence they do it on FRIDAY the 13th's, and not like.. the 2nd Friday of every July or every summer month... it's FRIDAY the 13th, a day of "bad luck."

Dude, if you want to go...go. While there is a lot of cruisers there...it's a BIKE event first. I've never been and I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm heading down in a group of 4. Two cruisers, two sport bikes. I know there were more than a few folk from GTAM who were talking about going when I was down at BB on Tuesday.

Go, have fun, bring your rain gear and enjoy a nice ride. If you think it sucks, head out of town and go for a ride. I hear there are TONS of awesome roads just outside of town.

Oh, and have your paperwork handy. OPP are all over the place.

This video would indicate it is more about DRINKING than riding... It was definitely not a bike event first. :)

If you think these chicks are HOT and you'd bone them, go to Friday 13th!! :)
*Notice the Yamaha R6/R1 right behind them, Sportbikes welcome!!

Sigh...It's bikes first...not cruisers, then sportbikes.

That is all I'm saying.
