What is a good riding pant that does not cost a fortune?

I am not looking for leather, or even those kevlar( unless really cheap) but just an everyday pant that is comfortable to wear? I do not have a dress code at work so can wear whatever. I want something light( I know not very protective) but with this hot weather jeans are uncomfortable.

I like the light cargo style pants that are cotton but have not found anything reasonable.

Regular jeans aren't even really a riding pant, so you're not going to find anything lighter than them that's meant to be worn on a bike (will do anything vs shred in 0.1 seconds in a crash).

I'd even contend that mid-range kevlar riding jeans are a stop-gap between jeans that will do nothing vs actual riding pants (leather or textile).

Personally I want to pick up a pair of good kevlar jeans at some point (can't seem to find any that I like that also fit well) for when I'll be spending more time off the bike than on, but until then best option imo is textile overpants, and just take them off when you get to where you are going.

Macdoc used to swear by some pants from marks work wear house. Can't remember what they were.
I find it hard to wear jeans as they try transfer heat to the legs a lot more than. Y textile riding pants. When I commuted I used to ride with over pants. They were looser in general and allow air flow to keep things cool

Actually was 511 Tact pants and I wear knee armor under them. Lot of nice features but not cheap either

Specifically these

TACLITE® PRO PANTS

They are light weight but durable and dry very fast being a polyester cotton blend. They are ripstop and better than cotton by far but you should put some motocross knee armor under them. Thor and Fox have cost effective sets...$

Thinking that price is a typo

But that's not a "riding pant". Many like th AirGlide 3 which I also wear. But they are over pants and properly armored.

what's a 'fortune'?? I'm just wondering because my gear is probably worth a few grand more than my bike.

I really love my Dainese New Drake Air Textile Pants. They are a little more expensive then some other stuff, but not a "fortune".
Great breath-ability, protection and style. I did a lot of research before I took the plunge:

Ya to me those are pretty expensive.. Will just stick with denim for now until I can find some clearance stuff.

Take a look at Resurgence Gear Pekev Jean's. They offer full protection up to almost the ankles.using Pekev material. Supposed to better than kevlar and its full coverage. They have a liner in them that helps with the heat dispersion. It comes with C.E. approved knee armour and hip armour. But I still use separate knee armour. They are still a heavy Jean compared to regular jeans. But I find the fit closer to a Levi's 501 Jean as compared to other technical jeans I've tried e.g Draggin jeans. I've been wearing them in this heat lately and dont find them any hotter than regular jeans. The price is reasonable for what you get. I belive I paid around 175.00 at GP Bikes with their typical 20% off coupon.

Forgot to mention. They also make a Chino, dockers type pant with the same protection but probably alot lighter and possibly cooler in warmer weather.

uhm why does the guy in the video look like a panda bear...lol

I would consider even heavy jeans to offer about the same protection as shorts so if you want to go lighter you might as well wear shorts. Or maybe some pantyhose might be a step above shorts?

I use everything from MArks, it is amazing the tech they put into their cloths/gear and most people have no idea.

Disclaimer, I am a CT Corporate employee but my review is from personal experience.

I get free clothes from Mark's for work and I generally wish they had picked a different company. Some employees won't even use their stuff because they dislike it.

Different opinions I guess.

Which items in particular do you love?

Any of their HD1, HD2 or HD3 waterproof jackets have done me very well.

Their wrinkle free work pants or shirts

Their glove liners are really warm, thin and have a texture on the digits for texting

Their waterproof hoodies are also really comfortable and warm.

I have never used their work stuff, it all seems pretty heavy, I wouldn't probably wear it neither to be honest but I don't do any kind of job that requires safety gear etc.

Thanks. I haven't tried most of that so I'll have to.

I have a Stormtech jacket from them that I like a fair amount. It's been replaced 3 times under warranty though but this latest version seems good.
