what helmet cams are best?

They are all pretty good if you're not expecting to use the audio from it. If you can find a broken Hero2 (won't charge, won't turn on, freezes constantly) I can usually repair it for under $15 and they do a great job in 1080p30. Contour recently went out of business and was blowing out all their cameras like the Roam 2 for $120 ish!! My current favourite camera is the Drift HD Ghost. Was or is on sale at GP bikes for $269+tax. Can be converted to GoPro mounts easily as well (not required for helmet, but handy for mounting in other places).

They all have drawbacks... but the one I have and like is the Drift. Rotating lens and standard camera mount are definitely a plus.

Helmet mount I prefer my Drift HD Ghost due to form factor, but audio isn't really usable at all. Mounted I prefer the GoPro (have the Hero3 Black).
