what are these rain lights?

Watching MotoGP run in the rain the they talk about a riders rain light being switched on. What are these indicating? They have no brake lights correct?

No it's just for visibility from behind.

So what if you think the visibility is bad you flick on a light so others can see you? If that's the case call the race.

at 275+ km/h your bike will cause a ton of spray and mist in the air during a wet race. The red light is simply to help the other racers get a better view of the rider in front....

You may as well say, why bother with brake lights during the day, when you're driving around the city? You should be able to see no problem, right?

It's not a choice, if visibility is bad the light needs to be on.
