Went to Etobicoke Sail on the bike today

Thanks guys! On paper the FJ-09 is the perfect bike for me and from what I read it has none of the issues of the FZ. But man, it just doesn't look nearly as exciting as the FZ.

ZX600,
Does your cam chain tensioner make a lot of noise between 3-5500 rpm?
lol funny you ask.

The answer is yes but sometimes.

I went to Snow City to get an appointment for the linear throttle bulletin and asked them to also check for the CCT since I know there is some kind of bulletin about it, they said yes and that they were going to replace the part the same day. Called me back a day later and said that Yamaha canada was refusing to pay for the part until i bring the bike in and they did an adjustment, if after the adjustment the noise was still there then they would replace the part.

I wasn't happy about it and called them, after some bla bla bla I now have to bring the bike and they will first check it and then replace it, waste of time when the part could be already ordered and the job done all at once, now I have to go twice when the adjustment fails.

To be honest, I am thinking in just buying the APE CCT and replace it myself, screw Yamaha canada. Snow City are trying to do the right thing though.

Anyways, if anyone wants to get the throttle issue rectified, call snow city, they now know about it because of me.

Same engine so it is a hell of a bike, plus ABS and I believe TC and all the benefits of fairings and a wind scree, it is an excellent bike but also a hell of a lot more expensive.

Well, it all depends on your weight. Im 175 lbs with gear and its fine for city riding. Only drawback is taking corners fast. I don't feel completely confident with riding it too aggressively around tight bends. Maybe that's just my skill level holding me back, but the front suspension and rear suspension just don't feel right when going too fast, say, on a on-ramp or off-ramp.
Your bike is squatting on the rear when accelerating out of a corner so you lose grip in the front, it is a very bad feeling and if you hit any kind of surface pot hole or imperfection while leaning it feels like the bike is going to slide. Read up on it, at your weight you should be able to get it a lot better with some easy adjustments, there are a lot of threads about it on the FZ09 forum.

To be honest as a bigger rider (260 lbs with gear) the suspension is greatly lacking!. Saving up for a Penske double clicker and checking out options for the front forks. I heard Ohlins makes a fantastic fully adjustable cartridge set that allows full adjustability from both forks. As far as I see it with those mods this bike would be a perfect street fighter that would give any other machine a good run up to 160 kph before falling out a bit, but we don't do that on public roads right? Motor is amazing! I will admit at the moment I do prefer cornering on my old 750f more then I do on the new FZ. Feels far more planted. Braided stainless steel brake lines are the next step as well.

I feel for the price of the bike the (IMO) required mods to the suspension are well justified. I just wish they charged a bit more and had better suspension out of the box.

I was lucky enough to have the Bridgestone hypersport S20's on the bike when I bought it as I've heard that some people got Dunlop 's and we're not happy with them at all.

All in all even stock it's not un rideable if you have practiced good throttle control and a little throttle goes a LOOOONG way on this bike! Very exciting to ride! Truly the Konami code of wheelies. I find getting into twisties it's better to ride it in B mode.

Anyone know who does the reflashing on site? A friend of mine that works at Burlington cycle says they will send the ecu away and will take 2 weeks! I bought the bike at Brampton powersports and while I was very please with the way things went I did ask them to reflash it before I picked it up and they didn't. They told me to bring it back but I wanted to ride! I've been riding for 15 years straight now and this is my first new bike and hell I want to play!

Has anyone got to compare the original flash to the new one? I've gotten pretty used to the original flash but if it's a big improvement I'm going to bite and get it done!

I was dying for my bike last weekend in Indianapolis!

I had mine re-flashed at the selling dealer, Performance Cycle in Cambridge. The difference, in my opinion, is "night and day", it's how it should have been from the beginning.

Thank you! I'm going to call BPS to see if the do it on site as well. If that is the case I'll set up an appointment. I'm looking forward to feeling the difference!
