Waterproof glove suggestions?

I use these over my regular riding gloves. My hands never get wet, even on longer rides, and sweating inside gloves is less of an issue than inside less breathable pants & jackets. The best thing is that they dry very quickly, and your regular riding gloves also stay dry.

I think you saw my gloves - I showed it to you last year. Definitely check dealership and ask when the next sale is. I'll try bucket thinny on the weekend and will report back. Last heavy rain I remember was sometime last year - you were still riding 1198 and we left about the same time, took different exits to QEW and you passed me close to DVP. It was pouring and ride home took me about 2 hrs. My hands were dry when I got home :-)

I'm guessing my hands were not dry that day LOL

BMW Pro Summer 2 gloves

I wouldn't usually start a thread to gripe about a product, but I think my complaint about this item rises to the level where it should be discussed openly.

I bought a pair of BMW Summer Pro 2 gloves last season. I have worn them many dozens of times over the past year, whenever weather conditions allow. They are really only useable between about 55 and 80 degrees, being far too light for cooler weather and far too hot for warmer temps without causing profuse sweating.

Last week, I wore these gloves in the rain for the first time. They were soaked, through and through, in five miles. It wasn't from rain running down my sleeves, either. These are genuine Gore Tex lined gloves! There is no excuse for leaking gloves.

My buddy, too, owns a pair, and he, too, experiences wetting. His are so poorly constructed that one of his fingers poked through the lining of one of the gloves.

17 Jun 2011 ... I have a pair of BMWs 'Pro Summer' gloves, which are lightweight gloves with ... I
had two different pairs of those and they both leaked. In fact ...

Not sure what is going on with these versus yours.

There is a new fabric out that is supposed to address the downsides of Gortex.

But those over gloves that are fully waterproof would be the way to be sure to keep dry.

I have two Ill go over them real quick . .

Joe Rocket Ballistic 5.0 Gloves . .

Wear in very well and feel great and has a thumb squidgy for your visor. The liners is not the best at winking away sweat so after taking them off and putting them back on I always have issues getting my pinky back in from the moisture build up. Otherwise I still use these are my primary warm and dry glove.

Alpinestars WR-V Gore-Tex Glove . .

This has a Gore-Tex liner. VERY comfortable liner (similar to a fo-fur), warm and well built. Wicks away moisture like magic. These are the newer of my two and I feel their a little stiff after about a month of use.

Both have no leaky seams and work great. Very happy with them both and I use these in 5-30 deg temps no issues. Overall build, technology and quality the AStar is the winner. I just use the Joe rocket because I have worn it in and its more flexible.

Hope this helps :)

I have gortex boots....never had wet feet and I ride through downpours a lot. Fully expecting my gloves to behave the same way. From my experience and that of others, if you have an article of gortex clothing that leaks and the manufacturer doesn't take care of the problem, the gortex company will, hence their guarantee.

Never had a problem except with first pair (lost it a while ago) - bought them used, one seam started to come apart (at the cuff). Went to bmw - they replaced with new pair no questions asked. Became big fun of their gear ever since - one of my jackets is from them, two different sets of gloves and all-around boots (all this is my rain/cold weather gear). For summer I am actually with topendz - perforated leather (almost everything). I have a lot of other waterproof stuff (I do a lot of hiking and similar activities) - Gore-Tex is hard to beat and by itself it never leaks. Problem is usually with seams or glue (mostly on boots).

Well, I ended up buying REV'IT! Summit H2O gloves based on rev zilla reviews. I'll let you guys know how dry they actually keep me. Price on them was definitely not bad.

when I was at Daytona Motor Sport in North York grabbing some lights, I saw these gloves. Grabbed a pair last week when we had those massive rain storms and glad I did. I cant find them on their website anywhere, but I foudn their kijiji ad. got stuck in rush hour coming from downtown in the rain last week and was really happy I grabbed them. they were under 40 Bucks!

Held warmNdry from Oakville Yamaha. Great glove collection none of which I have found in other GTA stores.

I ride all year through any weather and this glove left my hands dry through heavy down-pours plus its very comfortable and relatively thin for an all year type of glove.

Well not the bucket but put them on and put them in sink full of water - hands were bine dry after 5+ minutes. I did not expect anything else - as I mentioned I go through heavy rains every year with them and they keep my hands dry. To OP - those Revit look nice! And plus 1000 for Held gloves and Oakville Yamaha - love Held stuff (have their perforated boots and gloves for summer) and Oakville Yamaha crew is top notch

Thanks for the great amount of info everyone.

If these REV IT's suck I've got a handful of alternatives =D

Klim element goretex long. But they will set you back $250...unless you get them on the 50% off deal we just had :)

I have a pair of these and have used them for one season. They work. They take a bit to break in but they are excellent in a downpour.

There is no such thing as a pair of sustained waterproof motorcycle gloves for anything over 5 minutes of heavy rain. I wear some RevIt ones which are very good for cold weather riding and light rain. According to a few surveys the best ones are richa cold protect gtx. I will be purchasing a pair of these to try out. Don't expect to find them locally however.

Whilst looking around at gloves I looked at many reviews including mcn comparisons and ride magazine. Both said spade enforcers were fantastic so I brought them secondhand unworn on fleabay they arrive today. Today I came across a website visordown who tested winter waterproof gloves and as said above they based it on a fast tap for five minutes however after which they put them on and into ice for five minutes to check warmth finally they submerged them upto the cuff underwater for 15 minutes. I have to say this pretty great testing. Anyway my new gloves scored 0/10 waterproof and 4/10 warmth 4 pairs scored 10/10 wp the gloves that scored high were richa cold protect gtx 10/wp 10/w revit orion 7/cold held freezer 10/wp 10/w and alpinestars drystar 10/wp 7/w for performance and look ill resell the spade and get the richa. would have put the site link but didn't want to get in trouble if its not allowed. hope this helps. what about jackets?

I always carry multiple pairs of rain gloves. Eventually they get soaked, even if my hands are dry inside, once taking them off it is a pain to get back on. Any trip I do, I have 2 pairs of rain gloves. I have 4 in total, they very on warmth and quality. Rain covers is probably the best option, I have no tried them yet, but it is something I will be looking at picking up next season. If they work, then you have a great water proof cover that will pack very very small.
