Was looking at a '98 vfr 800 with high km, people are advising against it. So I went looking more and found a '94 gsxr 750 that has been sitting for two years does not run, asking price $1900. Also found a '89 gsxr 750 that runs and has new tires, air filter, and a full yosh exhaust for $1700 asking. Is there any common problems with these bikes? My search did not turn up much.

I'd say stay away unless you are looking to actually fix these up. If you are trying to buy a bike on a fixed income like only spending $2000, I wouldn't even bother. All of the above bikes scream problems down the line. If you have extra money to invest in these " problems " and redo the bike, they are great machines when maintained and when properly inspected and repaired.

Have no issue with spending money to fix them up, was planning to do that on my v45 but parts are way too hard to find.

I bought a 1998 VFR and on doing research it seems that they can get well over 100,000 kms on them. You don't mention how many are on the one you are looking at. You might have to get the valve shims adjusted so check prices on that job. I only kept it for a month because I didn't like the amount of heat that the engine produced. It is certainly not a city bike.

If the bike is from the 90's and it doesn't even work, it isn't worth anything over $1000
