Long story short,
This guy on kijiji posted up an ad for Dainese wave back protectors for 90$..
BE WARNED THEY ARE FAKE CHINA Replicas.
just a heads up guys.
heres a link to the AD.
http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...TOR-MOTORCYCLE-BIKE-JACKET-W0QQAdIdZ475909841
if you look at his other ads, hes also selling stuff like china replica motogp race jackets. plastic made...
How do you know it is fake? I don't see enough info to make that statement. More info please.
I called this guy as well.... sounded REALLY shady...asked about the different sizes he had. 1s, 11 ,12 ,13... he had NO idea what i was asking about... and said only in sizes Small Medium and Large. as far as i Know. real Dainese gear is usually made in Italy, Poland.
$90 is ridiculously cheap brand new.. especially cause these things msrp at $199+
There are many ways, as one was mentioned earlier, that gear can be sold cheaper than MSRP. A quick internet search shows that the protectors are available as med and large which is in the seller ad, but there are also various shoulder, waist height options as you mentioned that the seller was not aware of. Not surprising. He would hardly be the first person on the internet not knowing everything about what he is selling.
And Dainese gear is made in more places than what you mention. A quick internet search, again shows this, as well as the new Dainese gear I have.
Fake for sure. He just reposted the ad
http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAd?AdId=476651550. Authentic would be made up of a aluminum honeycomb material, and its this special material that is designed to take the impact. And yes he's trying to pass them as authentic if you ask him.
I can't see where you are sure it is fake. The aluminum and honeycomb material is in the core and won't be visible. It would be an easy mistake by the poster.
Lol at dainese using astrosorb. Totally different companies. Dainese does not use astrosorb.
Who knows, these back protectors could do more damage than protect. This guy should get charged.
Sorry to be harsh, but this post is moronic. Spend 2 seconds on google and you'll see a Dainese website and other mainstream sellers of Dainese gear noting astrosorb is in their wave protectors. If it is an error, it is all over the place and simply a copy and paste from one of them.
My take is while the ad says the protector is plastic (and no aluminum), that would be an easy mistake to make because upon doing a tiny amount of internet research, one will see that the plates on it are polypropylene (plastic). The aluminum part is in the frame, which is not visible. Beyond internet racing, by holding the actual product in your hands, the protector is obviously plastic by examining the outside structure and plates, while the aluminum frame inside of it is not so obvious.
I have no idea if the protector is fake. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. Some potential flags, but ones that could be original ad errors. At this time, there is little information on the ad or here in this thread to support any conclusion. What I do see classic internet piling on....
So again, I would strongly suggest more info is needed.
