Warm starting issues

Hi guy,

I have an 86 fj1200 that is giving me a hard time starting when warm. It will start up without a problem when its cold. Once warmed up it will turn over very slow. Sounds the same as when trying to start it with a dead battery. Sometimes it will catch other times it won't and I have to wait for it to cool off.

I'm thinking it's the starter but wanted to ask some of the more knowledgeable people on here before trying to change it out.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Would a vapor lock stop the engine from cranking? I had the tank off, so I will go back an ensure the fuel line is routed correctly.

I had a similar issue. Hard to start when hot, had to give her a bunch of throttle to get going. Turned out to be tight valves. Got them within spec and it went away. Maybe a coincidence but that's my only experience with that. As for vapor lock I have no idea so I choose not to answer that.
