Mature experienced riders please.

Flights from the GTA are not all that expensive - circa $2k round trip via Cathay Pacific.

I use the bike at the worst time of year.= from Jan to April.
It's gorgeous the rest of the year.
I hate to have it sitting stored.
It's just been nicely tweaked with new rotors and fully saftied to get the transfer.
Only thing that was wrong was a leaky clutch slave cylinder since repaired. Brakes are now spot on.

1993 Honda ST-1100 Pan-European - legendary reliability.
Factory side lockable pannier bags.
Matching original Honda Top case. Towing bar.
Brand new battery, a suburban & open road windscreen
New front rotors and pads. Cruise control. Bar risers.
Comes with 2 full faced colour matched helmets.
Sheepskin seat - never in police service
Full tool kit & manuals.

One of the top picks always in used touring bikes and the cop that I ride with felt the bike was good.

I'd work out something that was cost effective.
Insurance goes with the bike but likely might want collision insurance as well.

If you are serious over the next couple of years about doing an incredible adventure

You can see the area in the DownUnder thread
http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?151439-Down-Under-on-a-KLR-650-second-season
and the KLR650 would be available as well. There are tons of accommodation in the area as 2 million tourists come through this local area every year from pack packers to Bill Clinton and family.

There are people to ride with as well. I really hate having the bike just sit in the best time of year. :(

If I can offset some costs would be great. Gas costs tho 1.60 a litre so keep that in mind.
Fantastic trip if you can get here. :D

That's quite the carrot MacDoc. I'd definitely be interested in something like this. Wife and I already have plans in 2014 for a 6 month adventure but were thinking about NZ and Australia for either 2015 or perhaps the following winter. Unfortunately this is not even in the planning phase yet and won't be till we come back in 2014, but as far as interest…you had me at hello.

I'm really enjoying the ST lately after a bit of an uncertain start - got the ergonomics pretty much settled and getting used to the extra weight. Sorting the front brakes was the biggest plus and now it's just saddle time I need.

Great effortless run 110 km each way yesterday up the nicely twisty Jame Cook Highway between Cairns and Daintree Village. First ride after dark here and won't be the last but animals on the highway are a problem outside the more populated areas.

Camping is a way of life and there bike friendly B&Bs - fuel is costly - now running 1.60 Aus a litre - that's about $1.70 cdn so it's $35 fillups ( mind you big tank on both bikes. )

Loads of support from riders in each area so joining some boards ahead of time ( ADVRider has an Oz section and OZSToc http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=3737.new#new can give you lots of local tips and ideas.

Oddly I met my local riding partner on the Burgman site and we've got a small startup for computer rentals going called Cassowary Mac

http://www.cassowarymac.com.au

Ya just never know :D

Bike is tucked away at a riding buddy's but would be available as it now has additional insurance on it. He'll ride it every few weeks and it's on a battery tender.
Certainly hellishly less than the $175 a day the one guy is paying for the BMW :D

For those interested...this rider looped the whole continent on a Burgman 650 including one day was 1239 KM !!!
Will give people an idea of areas outside my FNQ local.

These are the daily summaries

A dream became reality: Riding around Australia on my maxi-scooter, a Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive. It took me 42 days and 26,000 kilometres to do a lap, with one short stint inland. What an adventure! What a wonderful country Australia truly is!
