Visitiing from Australia - Motorcycle Rental

Sup everyone. Born and raised in Toronto but married an Aussie and have been living in Melbourne, Australia for the past few years. We've just booked a trip back for the first time in ages and I'm looking to rent a bike for a day or two. So far all I can find is GTA Exotics. They've got an R6 and a GSXR-600 for $99/day. I was hoping to get an R1 or a new Blade as I'm in the market. Does anyone know of any other places that will rent? Also, what's the deal with insurance? The website states that a $44/day payment for insurance is mandatory however it also says that a $3,000 security deposit is mandatory in case of damages. Is the $44/day just for collision??? There has to be a better option. Help. Please.

Insurance is a rip in Ontario and I suspect your options are very limited as to any rental and expensive compared to back home in Aus.

I'm on the flip side staying Cairns for 3 months ( annually ) and just picked up a KL650 and having fun.

Good luck.

Not sure if you are going to visit the US but there are superb roads in upstate New York and PA and you might find better rentals there.

Thanks Mac. Quite surprised at the lack of rental companies. Only there for a couple weeks with 8 month old baby in tow so pissing off to the States ain't gonna happen unfortunately.

Enjoy your KL while you're up there and stay safe. Some crazy drivers in this part of the world.
 
It sounds like the daily insurance has a high deductable of $3K that you have to cover. The normal short season here limits rentals at reasonable prices. Some Harley dealers used to rent but that doesn't appear to be your tastes.

Would they give you a hassle if your licence is Aussie?
 
Heads up, I've heard nothing but bad things about GTAexotics. Never used them myself though.
 
OP/Scott, there really are no good places to rent a sportsbike in Toronto.

Like OP, Im married to an aussie and I've lived in Sydney for 6/7 years prior to moving back to T.O recently. There are plenty of places to rent motorcycles in Sydney but its not very cheap at all and finding a supersport may be a little difficult and would probably cost $200 per day. Most reasonable rentals are cruisers, standards or sport touring/adventure bikes. Lots of BMW adventure bikes for rent. Just do a quick google search and you'll find a bunch of places and for the most part they are all legit - not like gtaexotics.
