A huge thanks goes out to Tammy for organizing a kick *** track day!!! My legs gave out half way through, and my body position was getting so bad I was scraping my foot pegs, so I called it a day.

Best lap of the day for me was a 1:25.49 with a bunch more in the high 1:25's :D

The video is encoding now (at 2.7k resolution, yikes! :(). Some great moments, including me wheelie'ing from first gear all the way to the end of third in one go (first time for me ever shifting gears while in a wheelie)! Woot for quickshifter and GP shift!! Even better is my second attempt at it, mid air right near the limiter I kick it from 1st to neutral. Good thing for rev limiters! It set down so hard it shifted the position of all of my cameras!! :( Only my second day with GP shift so there were a couple of screw ups by me. One was setting a wheelie down too hard coming into the chicane and my boot bounced off the peg and knocked it into neutral :( I thought I broke a chain!! Went through the grass but kept her up.

Was fun getting chased by a RC51, those things sound awesome and pull hard too!

I'll post up the vids as soon as it's done, projected file size is 45 gigs :(

hey, how do you get the GPS to accurately work with the IPOD and hte Harry's laptimer, i can't get mine to work and supposedly I read that the Ipod does not have "real" GPS and Harry's laptimer is only accurate on the Iphone because gps is helped by the cell antennas.

Did oyu have to do anything special to the Ipod?
What IOS version are you running?

You need one of these: http://www.canadagps.com/Qstarz818XT.html

Edit: I managed to fix the aspect ratio - better now!

My iPod is 4th gen and has NO gps (cell/agps, real, or otherwise). I plug a $89 (using coupon code from HLT) ultra high accuracy 5hz GPS sensor into the bottom of it (UltiMate: http://www.emprum.com ).

Which iDevice are you running (type, version and size, like iPod 4th gen 8gb). I'm using the newest iOS (no idea what version, I just updated it the other day). I'm an iNoob so don't ask me any technical questions about it.

And ZX600, I just found out that you can't just mix and match video resolutions to overlay the live track timer! For example, if you shoot your GoPro video in 1080p but you have an older iPod/iPhone (like my 4th gen), then it won't let you dump the video to it so that HLT can overlay the track info (says 1080p video not supported, STUPID IPOD, I DON'T WANT TO WATCH IT, I JUST NEED TO PUT IT THERE!!!!)! You'd have to downscale your video to 720p for it to work. Another option is you can make the overlay on a temp blue screen video then edit it in using Adobe Primere (really quick once you get the hang of it). Nice thing about doing it that way is it's easy to adjust the overlay to video sync vs. trying to pick the right sync point on the little iPod screen, etc. etc. I'll post a walk through in HLT forums once my video is done encoding.

Super bad news for people shooting in 2.7k on the new Hero3!!! :(

I THINK only works on a jail broken iPod/iPhone and might not be fully supported by HLT. I'm also not sure my iPod even has bluetooth!

What mode did you have your GoPro in? It looks like you had it it slow mo/high FPS mode (640p possibly) OR when you ran it through your editing software you didn't pick 1280x720p for the output resolution ;) And if you want you can upload your ORIGINAL video to youtube, and edit it right on there! You can trim it up to cut out the parts you don't want, and add titles and annotations too! The quality would be way better doing it like that, but the upload time would be long (because of original video size).

Nice vid! Was super fun riding with you  That yellow duc sure looks funny but she gets around good!!

I hate Apple, unfortunately Harry's laptimer only comes for apple!

I have the Ipod touch 5th gen with 32 GB with the latest IOS, I think is v6 . something . somethiing

So now I have to go spend another 80 bucks, and depending I may have to also buy an adapter... awesome

This thing is lucky I also use it for golf or I would have returned it by now

The original video was 1080p 30 fps. The Windows Media AV file made by Windows Live Movie Maker looks perfect in my player, but once I upload to youtube it is stretched out. Very annoying.

They are just coming out with their Android version, check out the HLT forums :)

Your iPod has the new small connector right? If so you WILL need the adapter. Best to use a cable adapter, not the hard plug type. Don't buy aftermarket or your GPS will get lost packets/sync rate. The antenna for the UltiMate adapter is on the BACK of it, so using the cable adapter will allow you to mount it so that the antenna is actually facing the right way for once ;)

This thing is lucky I also use it for golf or I would have returned it by now
lol. I should find out something else I can do with mine, it sits there collecting dust until my track days :)

Download VLC player and play your windows media AV file with it. When the video is playing click Tools, Codec Information. What resolution does it say?

you guys need to turn up the heat and beat those bikes like they owe you money!

looked like it was a nice day for riding !
I was trying to be more aggressive on the brakes but was having too much fun with wheelies to worry about my lap times :D

Weather was flawless. Perfect temp to be comfortable, ZERO wind. Ambulance wasn't needed all day, and I think only one red flag!!!!

...OR you can buy a cheap Android phone with a broken screen from eBay for like 10 bucks, another 10 for new screen from China, and the QStarz GPS bluetooth I listed above. Then use RaceChrono or Trackmaster (my favorite). And in a few weeks, use Harry's lap timer on Android too, as it's currently in the works.

EDIT: Looks like the bleeding blue mentioned already HLP is coming to android :D

If that's your nice way of telling me I am slow as molasses in January, you are correct! I have never done better than 1:28 at TMP. I have lots of issues to work on, especially body position, but my lines also continue to suck.

I am hoping to do Racer 5 Stage 4 this year so maybe they can sort me out. Not sure how much a 44-year-old with poor motor skills and little courage can expect to improve, but I figure some proper instruction can only help. If I can't eventually flog this poor thing into the low 20s I may have to hang it up - it is getting boring turning the same lap times day after day!

On the plus side, the bike is working great - I really can't fault anything about it at all. Only problem is with the nut connecting the handlebars to the seat.

640 x 480
Not good at all :( I haven't used Movie Maker in like a thousand years so I'm not sure what to tell you to get it to output the video in a widescreen resolution. Did you pick 640x480 so it wouldn't take a long time to upload to youtube? See if it's got 1280x720 or 1920x1080 options when you go to save/export the movie.

Thanks Corsara but I can't be bothered, I ordered the GPS thingy Jamie recommended, I don't even know why I am doing this, I only do a handful of track days a year and hopefully SOAR will have their new timing system up and running for this weekend.

Not a big deal, I normally just use the video to get my lap times once I get home.

Can't blame you :) If I had an iPod or iPhone, I'd have done the same--easy, straight-forward, and Harry's lap timer works great.

That's the default import resolution if I'm not mistaken. It can be changed. I think it reverts back to that setting after updates.

Why not just buy a ****ing lap timer for christs sake?

lol that is too simple. I have bad luck with laptimers, they never work for me or I am just tech challenged. Plus I also use a really good app for golf and music and stuff, so If I am going to spend 300 bucks for a good laptimer, i prefer to get the ipod and use it for a few more things... that's my reasoning anyways.
