Using CAA to get to storage?

So I live in Kitchener and am storing my bike in Milton.
Will CAA hassle me if I wait till the snow comes and tow it to Milton? I have premium CAA so they will tow a bike.
Just wondering if anyone has done this as I don't want to put the bike away then have a couple more nice days.

Cheers

Disconnect your battery and tell CAA that it wont start and you are towing it to your mechanic.

Although Ive never had a tow driver ask me about the car/bike. I just tell CAA its broken and then someone comes and gets it.

Ive had my bike/car moved by CAA several times.

Thats exactly what I was thinking of doing but not sure if they would realize I'm towing it to my work while its snowing lol.

The guy that bought my last bike from me had it towed away with CAA while it was snowing. The driver showed up and knew what was going on and had no problem with it. Turns out he was a rider too!

Pull a fuse and call CAA. If the driver asks you whats wrong, show them it wont start, but if they wanna take a look at the bike (to see if they can get it started), just state that it's your property and you only want your trusted mechanic to service the bike and no one else. Usually with bikes though, the tow truck people are pretty cool and dont check to see if its truly broken down or not *cough moto-limo*

I've never had a problem doing this.

I think I'm out of the range that Motolimo covers as it will be picked up in Kitchener.

Make sure the CAA driver you get knows what hes doing, some have no clue how to strap down a bike.

ask for flatbed!!!
last time they sent a regular tow truck, not easy (not long enough) to tie around the bike tank then hang up tie the wheel to the metal bar
tiny scratch on my tank

The last time I got it towed it was the drivers first time doing a bike, So I walked him through how I wanted it strapped down and he argreed as long as we both thought it was safe.

He first tried to strap it down while it was still on the kickstand

They've done further. Call Moto Limo first and ask them, then call CAA and request for Moto Limo if they say they are clear for a call to Kitchener.

Technically you are breaking the CAA rules, and if you get a real rules nazi, I think they could pull your membership.

That said, I've done way shadier stuff over the years, and not one driver has even looked at me crooked for it (ie: very obviously having someone else with a membership show up at the roadside where my car is dead, etc).
I'm pretty sure they are all subcontractors and get paid by the job, and so it is not in their interest to deny the tow.

I think CAA is on to this, and have worked it in to their pricing.

I always thought CAA will tow any car as long as the cardholder is present when the tow truck arrives. Is this not the case?

Their rules have definately become more flexible in the last few years - it seems that they have accepted the 'misuse' now, rather than trying to fight it. However I do think that the service agreement still is pretty clear that it is for breakdown/emergency service only, as opposed to transporting vehicles for you. But again, it seems that they have just worked the cost of the abusers in to their business model, as it is probably cheaper than fighting over every iffy situation.

They sent flat beds for me twice. Actually, a flatbed came to get my car too! :)

I don't see them having a problem with this.

I've used CAA twice over the years and they never questioned or checked the method of failure (they took my word). Although it was a legitimate failure in both cases. The first time was on my Jeep for a failed u-joint due to poor craftsmanship and the second time was for a blown apart transfercase (same place that did the poor craftsmanship on the u-joint) on my friend's Jeep as we were riding north.

If you're out of their coverage area, moto limo will tell you that you can pay them extra $$$ and they'll still come and tow you.

+1 for pull the main fuse & "my bike won't start I need it taken to my mechanic" unless you call a battery guy, they generally won't even look at your bike before they get it moved to where you want it. (I've got mine moved a few times) AFAIK they are generally sub contractors who get paid by the tow so are happy to have the work. As a premium member you will get a flatbed, CAA wont tow a bike on a non-flatbed truck (probably had some fairing damage issues in the past).
