Used bike purchase

I will not be getting the 3rd party insurance but out of curiosity will give another update once I call them to bring some closure to the subject.

also get them to drop the price a bit or give you store credit. That bike has been there for a few months now and they'd rather sell it than drag it around and try to sell it at the shows where they'd rather move new inventory.

They did drop it by $500 as I walked in the store. I think they will take a loss on it as some of the maintenence work had to be done. Overall happy with the purchase ... just have to wait for it to be delivered.

It depends on what price they bought the bike at or what they gave for a trade in value to the previous owner.

they got it from a Harley dealer so I'm guessing they got it for a good price, could possibly have even traded a bike that the Harley dealer would have an easier time selling.

I did ask for some information about the bike - previous owner, where they got it from, any maintenance work, was it a trade in - but the GPBikes salesman was skittish, did not know much, coy around details and quite unprepared although i told him I will drop by and have a chat with him.

Maybe i did something wrong or my expectations were very high but i lost quite a bit of respect for the shop.

Hmm I'm surprised you still bought off of him.. Lol I used to work in appliance and tv sales.. I demand good service haha so now if I don't like the sales person I'll just ask for a someone else's help.

Congrats on the new bike anyway.. The Daytona is sweet

because you think all bikes come with a previous owner history attached, some little booklet they hand over with all records???
next time you are at a shop just stand there and watch when a bike is traded in, go on a Saturday morning, bike will come in at 9am and sold by 11am pickup Monday morning only because dealer tend to have to wait for MTO for plates and registration plus the new buyer has to get insurance. It can all be done Saturday by 1pm presuming nothing is needed to be done to the bike.

I don't know about 3rd party warranties on bikes but the ones for cars when I used to be a service advisor at a dealership didn't cover much. There was always a clause or a fine print that when I'd call to get the warranty repairs authorized they would deny them

man what's with the I had to ask my wife for approval crap?? It sends jitters down my spine. If you're a working man and not getting an allowance from your wife I don't see why you'd need approval for a $7000 purchase.

Yeah, discussing major financial transactions to your signifigant other before just going off half cocked and deciding to spend many thousands of dollars is sooooo not manly.

If your wife did the same on a $7000.00 purse would you feel the same?

Three chequing accounts. his; hers; ours.. The last being where the bills get paid from, which both contribute to based on income percentage. What she does with her money I could car less... Now if we're talking credit feelings change.. lol

i concur, however, as the bike rolls in, you know if it is from another dealer or from a person, as such you can say, a guy traded it in or we got it as a trade in from another dealer. I can read if the levers are Pazzo, and the Arrow written on the muffler. But seriously, if you don't know where your sh|t comes from and you have no idea what stock you have, what kind of a dealership/salesman are you?

Listen, without sounding like an dbag ... The guy gave me his info over e-mail and agreed to look into the bike's history and mechanical work - clearly he did not prepare for the engagement. If i were to start telling clients i can't write code because your monitor is too old and cannot render fonts; you need to buy a new one - da sh|t? /venting over

whatever happened that night is water under the bridge now

If it's side money that she earned, all the power to her...don't have one though and am not planning to for a while.
