Upgraded.... Big time. (pic heavy)

So, I should first disclose that this is my first year riding. I got on my CBR250 for the first time at the start of March and have enjoyed every second I spend on the road. Four months later, I got an offer I could not refuse on my Ceebee....

So upgrade time came much earlier than expected. I wasn't unhappy with the Honda, but I was always dreaming of a cruiser. And when I discovered that insurance between a 750cc cruiser and 1300cc wasn't that far apart for a 38-year old man, I decided to go after my unicorn (that beautiful horse-like creature, usually unattainable.)

A 2012 Yamaha Star Stryker in Red-Copper.

I've been dreaming about the rake on that front fork since the moment this bike was announced.

And those are some of the sexiest stock pipes I've ever seen...

I've logged some seat time over the last a week and a half. I'm still a newer rider, so I'm taking it slow. I never ride beyond my capabilities. It helps that the weight of the Stryker is so manageable. Sure, the turning radius is miles wider than a Ceebee, but it just means you have to plot your path more carefully and practice proper trail braking. And to me, riding has never been about fast turns and knee dragging (although I applaud the skills of those who do.) No, riding to me is all about a slow cruise, taking in the scenery, feeling the rumble of that V-Twin in your chest.

This bike is d*mn near perfect in my mind, but I'm sure a set of Cobra pipes are somewhere in the future. I'd love a touring windscreen, but it may spoil the looks. Decisions, decisions. Anyways, I'm so happy I just had to share. Ride safe folks!

Beautiful bike! I've seen very few of these around and really like them as well!

If you have anyone else looking to give such a good offer for a CBR250R let me know...lol

Congrats!

nice looking bike, congrats!

For a windscreen, I know for HD there is some quick release options. My cousin has one, he leaves it off most of the time, but for longer rides or trips he pops it on. Takes a min to get on and you are never stuck with it being permanent.

Great looking bike, I would own one. I hope you didn't learn to love aggressive cornering though.

Yep, sick looking bike, and I don't like cruisers! congratulations!

I ain't a cruiser guy, but I could see myself taking that out for a ride or two...Its a nice one and red is my favourite colour, I also like the fact that the graphics aren't too over the top.

Looks great. I definitely wouldn't add a windshield though unless it is removable like wonderings mentioned -- would ruin the look imo to have it on all the time.

Sweet bike, dude!! But I must say I am very confused...how can I be approximately the 15th person to reply, and nobody
has yet tried to tear you a new one for going to such a bigger bike so soon...take this-or-that course first...you need more
experience...what are you thinking?...etc, etc, etc.

Hahahahaa! I was grateful for that actually. I think it's cause it's evident that I'm an older guy, looking to ride slow, not trying to push the limits. I'm fully aware that I still have a great deal to learn, and I respect that. And for the record, I did the RTI thing back in April...passed the M1 exit with zero errors.
My post was more about sharing a dream come true. This bike is just phenomenal.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Oh, Man what a sweet ride!
That's my next bike (or a Roadliner I'm still undecided but then I've got time)
I took the course last August, road a 250 Virago until Feb, then upgraded to a Virago 1100.
I'm 49 years old, and understand exactly where you are coming from.
And also understand the transition from 250 to big cruiser. It's not as dramatic as going to an SS

because its not a SS...power to weight ratio...take a look into that.
