Two very different bikes...

Put the Triple back to stock and sell/trade it on what you really want.

There's an '07 Street Glide with 38kms on Autotrader in Tilbury for $15,400. Between trading/selling your Triple and the parts you should come out owing not-a-ton on a bike like that.

There's no sense keeping a bike you don't like. You tried it and didn't like it. Fair enough, there's no shame in that.

If you really love the big Harley, the little triumph will never make you happy. They are just too different. I'd say give up and start planning how you're going to go back. Also next time you want to try something different, try a demo day first it's much cheaper.

I think you may be suffering from one of the two following scenarios. It's important that you're honest with yourself to find the right answer:

1. Nostalgia - is a sentimentality for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations. When looking at modern video games, I often think how games on my original Nintendo were better than todays games. I fully believe this feeling. Were the games back then better? No. I just had more fun playing them, because I was a carefree child that was amused by them.

2. Wrong Tool For The Job (as someone else has pointed out) - Street Triple R and a Street Glide are such different bikes, that fulfill different roles and feelings. What kind of riding do you do? You said you miss; wind protection, comfort, sound and 'image' (in different words). This leads me to believe the Street Triple R is the wrong bike for the riding you do. It sounds like you made a knee-jerk reaction based on emotions of not being treated well. Now that this emotion is wearing off, you've realized you made a bad decision.
 
Yah, thanks for the reply. I think it is a little bit of both actually. The Triple is a great, amazing bike! It just isn't what I am used to and I am not interested in going really fast on the street or hoolaginism. I just like cruising down the road and going through the twisties when I get there. Certainly the Triple is the better twisty bike but you gotta ride a lot of freeway to get there. That said, I will be moving to Pennsylvania soon so maybe I will enjoy it more there. Or maybe I'll just still want a big touring Harley.

There is no sense riding something that isn't what you want.

Even it it's cool and awesome.

Just sell the Brit and get the pig and be done with it.

Plenty of baggers out there for sale at decent prices.

If not, check out a T-bird and stick with the Brit. Liquid cooled, cruiser style and profile. Dare i say different than the bat wings posing at the timmies?
 
Hey PalmPalm, I was in your exact predicament last year - although my budget was not what yours is. I decided to downgrade and have 2 lesser rides for each of my moods. Similar money but of course more on insurance. So far so good! I'll eventually sell one but until I decided finally which has to go, I'll just keep flipping back and forth.

Keep in mind you can always return to the HD. When you're 50 the triple may not be that appealing.

I'll be riding down south for a week in April and if after that trip of riding the good twisties I don't fall in love with my triple I will go ahead and bite the bullet and get a Harley.

So you'll be out some coin, its better than riding a brand new bike and not enjoying it. Life is short, live it!

On the other hand,.....WHYYY would you go from a Street Triple to a Harley, are you mental. (personal biased opinion)

I put the risers on, I put a bigger windshield on, and I went riding. I rode for three hours over all kinds of roads, freeway, highway, twisty, straight, country, city, and the whole time I wasn't enjoying it. I was missing a Harley. So I did it; I went and bought the Harley. Will make the official trade tomorrow. If anyone here is in Ontario, Canada and wants Triumph frame sliders, engine covers, or a Puig windscreen for a 2014 Street Triple R ABS just shoot me a message as they are for sale.
