Trouble on Tour - Engine problems

I am at Atlantic Motoplex in Dieppe, NB. Bike is being operated on as I type this. The preliminary diagnosis is a couple of bearing failures inside the engine case that supports the belt. The failure caused a bit of collateral damage as well. I should be back on the road by the early afternoon.

Great news. Good luck the rest of the way.

Bike is back in my hands. Bill was not pretty, but it was still cheaper than the uhaul. Onto the Gaspe Peninsula...

Best result from a bad situation. Ride on! :)

good stuff
we're holed up in Coudersport dodging nasties...hoping for a decent riding day tomorrow Damn thing has been parked here for 2 hours

poor old Fz8 is almost buried in a huddle of Harley's that blew in after dark with very chilly riders

I wonder what could've caused that.?

Not sure. I followed up with GP bikes here. It was 2 of the 4 tensioners (the bairings make up part of the tensioner). I probably did not describe the problem properly the first time. Admittedly, I was in a bit of a haze when they were telling me.

Not sure why they failed, but I got a "yeah, i've seen that before in monsters" answer. Not sure it made me feel better, though I was definitely happy that they had the parts in stock to fix it.
