I was wondering what sites people generally use when planning routes throughout north america? It appears there are a few options online, which are preferred?

A lot depends on what you want to see. Are you a mileage junkie, a twisties junkie or a tourist?
I like Civil War stuff that you don't tend to find on m/c sites. What's your passion?
 
People fall generally into two categories. Those that plan every day of a road trip, down the mileage and gas stops, and those that more or less just go.
