I am planning a tour to Vermont for 3-4 days beginning of September.
I just started riding 4 months ago and am getting tired of short cruises. If anyone has made this trip before, I would gladly hear about your experience.
Sadly none fo my friends ride. If anyone is interested in making a trip like this let me know, always great to ride in good company.

P.S. If you didn't pick up on it, I ride a cruiser :-)

Happy cruising :p

I've been thinking about riding to vermont before the end of the season.

Thinking about doing a weeeknd trip, but it will be a quick paced trip.

I liked it.. but next time I'm going to shorten the days to 6 hours (Plus breaks and lunch)

Also, I wouldn't up north so much. The roads are chewed up.

Green Mountain National Forest is worth the ride. I rode it last year. I am considering doing it again yet this year. I stay off the freeways.

From memory:
- Rode to Lake Placid via Watertown then Andirondack Park. Watch for police. Many of the little communities generate as much as 90% of their revenue from speed traps.
- Then continue east to Lake Champlain via 73, then south on 9N/22 which meanders south along the west coast of the Lake for over an hour. A variety of road types and scenery. I stopped at an orchard and had a great morning meal of home baked goods and a great conversation with the good looking female server on the veranda (for almost an hour I think as I was in no hurry) 9N becomes 9.
- At bottom of Lake Champlain turn east onto 149 and go to Fort Ann. Continue east to Rutland (the only freeway riding I did for about 15 minutes)
- Then get over to the 100 which runs N/S along the east edge of the National Green Mountain Forest.
- I forget the names of the road from here but there are a couple that run E/West across the park. The top one is curveeey with good elevation changes and scenic spots.
- Basically cross the Forest, ride on the 100 a few minutes (~15 - ~20 minutes) then cross the Forest again. Repeat. There are places for gas during the day time.

Have fun.
