Hey everyone,
So I have a week off coming up and would like to take the girl (my 250 ninja named "Emerald") for a long ride and back. I have a few questions about the "possible" trip. I say possible because its not for sure just yet.

1) Do I have to have a full M license for any of the states? Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan?
2) I don't want to go south via Chicago, I really feel like going up Sault St. Marie or maybe go to Sarnia and then go north.

Any suggestions? Any paper work I should bring with me for the bike a side of course of the ownership and insurance?
Do I need temporary American insurance for the bike or just for me??

Edit: Oh yeah, the trip would be from Aug 3 to the 10ish in case dates matter.

Any other suggestions or comments are welcome.

Thanks.

from what ive heard and read, all you need is your m2. your insurance should be valid in the US, but call with your insurance/broker/agent to confirm. also, its always a good idea to purchase travel insurance. it can be pretty cheap in some places. i think PC financial sells prepaid travel ins thats very reasonable. i remember seeing one at the PC financial downstairs at the loblaw on queens quay.

Took me 17 hours of straight driving to get to St. Paul. Not much to do in that city except seeing the Mall of America. You're better off staying in Chicago.

Going to visit a relative, not really thinking as a Tourist... Option B is to head to Florida but with Summer I'm a bit hesitant.

Passport

You don't need M.

I would def go north, to Tobermory and take the ferry to Manotoulin Island, then sault st Marie to mackinaw city. Or go through Sarnia and head North to mackinaw. Watch for deer and don't ride at night.

Passport to get across into the states, your insurance should cover it. When we came back from sturgis we went thru St.Paul and Into Deluth and 3 harbours and across the Makinaw bridge we followed lake Superior thru hunder bay, Wawa and down to the Sault and home . Awsome steel grate bridge in Makinaw. look down as your going over it, it feels like your flying on air. Be safe

Duluth is a nice city! Lots of nice places along Lake Superior and and Michigan, after Mackinaw City going west you will have awesome beaches and water right next to the highway, stop and take a swim! Mackinaw has a great bridge as mentioned above. Enjoy :)
