TMP: Intro To Track Course - Aug 3

Hey guys and gals,

I recently bought a track bike (2003 Ninja ZX6R 636) two weeks ago, prepped it and am ready for my first track day. I just picked up a never-used Spyke race suit (not even a scratch) from Kijiji and some new Alpinestar SMX5 boots. So the bike and all the gear is ready to rock 'n roll. Just need to setup the suspension before I do my first track day. Last night I booked the Saturday August 3rd Intro to Track Course at TMP. I seriously cannot wait to get out there and tear it up! Anyone else from the forum attending this course? Any feedback from people that have attended it? What exactly do they go over in the classroom session and out on the track?

I'm so pumped right now I think I may load the track bike into the truck and go test it a bit in a huge commercial parking lot that I recently found where the business never opened (pretty freshly paved within the last 5 years!!)

Keep an open mind. I was a sponge at my class on June 22. Took everything in. Even when I thought I was doing amazing they still had lots of things to make me better. Get there early so you got time to prep your bike in case they find something wrong with it. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Make sure your bike has water in it, not coolant.

As mentioned just bring an open mind, and possibly a tent and some extra cash so you can ride the track day on the sunday. You're going to want to ;)

Tent isn't needed for the intro. You're almost always doing something. When you're not riding there are lessons. Only a few 5 min breaks.

Make sure the bike is prepped and you have full gear

Oh and maybe a Jerry can of gas. I didn't need it but maybe you will.

How did you misread my post that badly? lol

I definitely plan on being a sponge as well. I feel I've taken street riding to its maximum potential anyway and feel there is tonnes to learn on the track where I can open it up and focus on my riding and not all the street hazards.

So I feel the bike is ready. Water Wetter in it, suspension sag all set, chained adjusted and lubed and a decent set of Dunlop GP's ready to burn. I also checked brake pads and various other items to ensure it will pass inspection first try. She looks ready to ride!

Cant wait for Saturday Aug 3. Gonna be a hoot. Plus I'm on holidays for the following 2 weeks after! Hopefully be able to attend another track day event during these 2 weeks! Woot!

Bring tools and refreshments. You'll have a blast

Wow, all I can say is this is a fantasic course for anyone looking to get into track riding. 3 insturctors for 7 seven riders. Tonnes of track time and my favourite... open lapping sessions at the end of the course to really open her up. Dragged both knees by the end of the 3rd session!!! What an afternoon! Highly reccomend.

I couldn't agree with you more, guys with bikes were awesome. Thanks to Don, (I don't remember the other guy's name, Rick I think) and the instructors Ryan and Squire .

It was nice meeting you. Too bad you couldn't stay for the trackday on Sunday, it was a blast.
