Thoughts and Opinions on 2017 Suzuki SV650A

I personally own both (sv650 and street triple r) personally I wouldn't compare them to each other. The striple/r is a titties out version of the Daytona 675/r, handling, power, braking, fit and finish are all leaps and bounds better than the sv650.

However the sv650 is the "jack of all trades but master of none!" it does everything good just not great, it's cheap to maintain, parts are everywhere you look and has been bomb proof since day one!

Dude. Buy this bike, I guarantee you won'r regret it, UNLESS: you want to impress women or look cool while leaning against it in the Timmies parking lot. It can't do either of those well.

Cheap to run, Cheap to insure, Not a theft target so you can park it ANYWHERE with no worries and it has a comfortable riding position

Riding it: the naked's have shorter gearing than the faired ones, so acceleration is pretty damn good AND there is lots of torque for a 600 (similar to most older 600's), available really low in the powerband, which makes for a fun bike to ride at legal speeds.

I've test-ridden all the japanese I-4 2014 600's and all of them are BIG yawns at legal speeds. So if you wanna have fun and keep your license, SV is the ticket, I swear. It's too practical for me to get rid of.

Are SVs not cool anymore?

LOL svs are good bikes that can get you in as much trouble as any other bike.

05 sv650s I've had for years good on insurance and fun ride and enough power for the street.

I want to know what the OP thinks about the Gladius vs. the new SV.

The Gladius is discontinued now, and the 2015 model is on sale.

Pretty much the same thing, isn't it? :p

^^ The Gladius looks like it started to melt in the sun. The new SV's lines are a little more classic, round headlight and all. I likes it.

Agreed. The newer model looks leaner and meaner, even a bit "industrial". I like it.
