This sucks!!! What can happen when riding in groups so the RCMP say?????

So one guy is clocked doing 162 and they assume the rest of the bikes were doing the EXACT same speed? Slippery slope...

With this kind of logic the cops should just shut down the 401 on a regular basis and give everyone speeding tickets since everyone does over 100km/h...

...well....to be fair...if it's a line of bikes all observed to be together for a while and one of the riders is clocked at a certain speed...they are all at least going the speed of the slowest member. If it was an instantaneous reading with no prior observation then there's nothing you can say about any of the riders except the one that was clocked.

If this is a concern then just be smart with the way you ride.

Open up the throttle on a modern 600/750/1000cc sportbike and notice how fast you accelerate from 100-162km/h. For all you know the guy in the front might have pinned it for a couple seconds, been clocked doing 162 and the guys behind him could have been cruising at 130.

I can't imagine this charge sticking in court

It takes a whopping 9 seconds for me to reach 161kmph from 100kmph!

Now that's fast!
:p

Guess I should sell my GSXR for a moped

Probably. Exactly why 1000cc super sports on the street make no sense to me. Just a quick way to lose your license IMO.

Yes "real cops", don't want anything to do with Traffic Unit, both my friends are narcotics, drugs, weapons squad,

These aren't the "supreme courts judge president" sons right?
Oh, one was a mayor, so not them. It must be all the lawyer friends you have that will work for you for free.
bahaha

Give up the internet ego dude.

Take a look at that Sea to Sky Highway on Google Maps. While it may be scenic, you would have to be going more than twice the speed limit to make those curves any fun. I'm a proponent of choosing the right time and place and 99 in BC would not be my choice.

Or learn how to calm down. I've yet to get nabbed for speeding on my Daytona. Time and place dude.

one hopes that was an exaggeration of distance......
that's way too close at those speeds on that highway.

I've been in enough squidly rides to know that that's no exaggeration. Some people just can't respect your space.

Lol awwwww the new Ninjette is cute ;) I think from 100-180 is under 5 seconds for me if I'm in the right gear (closed course only).

To each their own

Put GSXR engine in moped. Done!

Its not exetremly close as I am sure they were riding stagered so technically they would 6m (20') from the rider in front of them.
The OPP ride a hell of alot closer than that when they ride and they ride side by side. I saw a group of 8 of them riding and they were about 1' from the side away and about 6'-8' from the bikes in front. If they had to brake hard the middle guys would have had nowhere to go.

How are you guys all missing the rider who got tackled by a black bear?! clearly the more interesting topic here

So "cruising" = +50 over the limit ?

Group speeding charges do hold up in court. They do it all the time on the 400.

So it's safer to speed in groups? :D

P.S. I do not encourage or condone breaking the law and I follow all speed limits to .0001 precision.
