Thinking of switching from dualsport/motard to street bike

So I've been dirt riding for about 15 years or more and never owned a proper street bike aside from a 77 rd400 i had for a short time and I'm 5'11 165lbs. For the last 10 years I've been riding a 2003 DRZ400S, for the first 5 years I rode dirt 80% of the time but in the last few years I haven't done any dirt riding and I've put 17" motard wheels on the bike. I have some friends that have street bikes (bandit1200,triumph america and bmw r1100r) and I'm hoping to do some weekend trips with them and also go for sunday rides with my 115lb girlfriend on the back. So far the only street bikes I've ridden are a 1200 bandit which I liked but found a little too heavy and a V-Strom 650 which I found fairly boring in it's linear power delivery and both a bit too tall and wide in the seat.

I am open to cruisers or sport bikes but lean toward sport based on what I've been told in regards to comfort and performance and I'm most recently looking at an 08 fz6 and 09 fz6r. What do you guys think about the fz's and what else would you recommend?

maybe too sporty for what you want but good deals right now on gixxer 600... a little over 10k out the door

Forget the FZ6R, its a dog compared to the older FZ6. The older model is a decent sport tourer. Fairly comfy, decent power. Stock suspension is real soft, might be ok for a lighter guy such as yourself, but you'd want to look at upgrading it if you plan on 2up riding often.

A friend has one he's looking to sell. If you're interested PM me.
