Most of that debt is going to subsidize your generation. I'm sure you are enjoying that healthcare and CPP you never paid into. You guys had the lowest tax rates in CDN history, and the 70s rang up the highest debt in CDN history when dollar corrected.

You know how you retire in the US if you aren't wealthy? you buy a gun and blow your brains out. >65 is the largest age bracket for handgun death in the US, and its all suicide.

There is not a single government worker in Canada that doesn't pay into their pension program. There are thousands of retirees sucking CPP and healthcare costs who paid nothing into those programs. Its all being covered by subsequent generations.

Maybe you should use your retirement time to get an education.

Depends on the policy of replacement value or not. But, if you are going to buy a used bike ~$3K, it doesn't make much sense to pay hundreds of dollars in comprehensive insurance.

When your bike is stolen or written off your insurance pays you the replacement value of it, nothing to do with what you paid for it.

I gave my Dad my old bike and there was no tax to be paid on a gift to a family member. My new bike I paid a bit of tax on but I only claimed what I paid for the bike not all the stuff I bought with it.

Sorry - I really am sorry that you have to wake up each and every day more clueless than the day before.
FYI - I paid more in CPP & everything else they sawed off my pay cheque than you'll ever earn son.
Ahhhh - the 70's!! Back when tax freedom day was in March. Unions were strong. People lived modestly for the most part, but it was a better country.
Then, all you foreign *** holes show up - crime goes through the roof as fast as taxation increased.
We have Trudeau to thank for ****ing with the numbers.
FYI - there used to be a limit on how many immigrants could enter Canada per year. It was actually "reasonable". The flood gates weren't wide open. That's when we could leave our doors unlocked at night, leave the car windows rolled down with 'valuable' items laying inside with no worries. **** - no one even bothered to take the keys out of the car.
Remember those days?....................I didn't think so.

BTW - buddy has a leak in a vacuum line, somewhere under the hood. Needs to borrow a 'smoke machine'.

It's about taxes - where they were, and how bad / heavy they've become (and some Cdn history for your Cafay buddy Ray. You see: he thinks I need an education. I retired before my 41st B-day. No, I didn't win the lottery. No, I don't collect CPP, as he insinuates. I'm still 7 yrs away from that.)

I'm not positive, but I think you can start drawing CPP at 65.
I have a buddy who is 64, and he was doing the paperwork a week ago.

I give credit where credit is due.
The 'latest' Trudeau admits he's on drugs!!
 
Not sure if this was said or not... but if the clerk actually cares on that given day, and they don't believe your price (too low), they will look up the blue-book value for the vehicle and make you pay tax on that amount.

Also congratz on getting a ninja 300, I think you'll enjoy it!
