Suzuki is on the way back

It's called "backin' it in." Sort of a take on drifting with much controversy in the racing world. Some of the pros do it as it feels right (and looks quite cool too). Others will say it slows you down as if you're going sideways, you're not going forwards.

My understanding of backing it in was when the rear goes off axis from the front tire on corner entry, the spin-out on exit usually goes hand in hand with "powerslide" terminology. You never hear "oh he almost highsided from backing it in".

Regardless, Suzuki may have the advertisements but the company isn't actually doing that well http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/news/suzuki-motor-america-dealership-cuts/.

Cool ad.
Being the rider, sure rider aids can save your bacon.
Being the racing fan, yeah, the racing sure was alot more exciting when there weren't any rider aids. However there were also alot more really nasty crashes that went along with it.

For street riding, I am in the yay camp. For racing, I am in the nay camp. The electronics often negate the skills we have all worked so hard to sharpen. Levelling the playing field for a newb facing off against veterans.

However, it sure would be neat, on a set of rains, to go out and splash about on a SMW S1000RR in a wet race with ABS and TC on.

I'm generally in the nay camp. My track bike has no ABS, TC, QS, launch control etc. I'm happy enough riding it without. I thought about TC as I want to improve lap times. But then I figure i'm only kidding myself. a second a lap faster as a result of TC isn't an improvement in my skill level.

But watch this video;

The rider obviously has a more powerful engine as he is able to overtake on the straights. Isn't that a rider aid? Having the fastest engine? Especially as he doesn't outbrake anyone or do them on the exit of a corner. Isn't that giving him a "false" position?

And I will happily join you in the rain on our beemers. So long as they're someone elses and I ain't paying!!

I added a bazzaz TC unit to my 08 Gsxr 1000 race bike, still not sure if I've ever felt it yet so I'm going to hook the light up to it that tells you when it's working. If anything, it will work as a small safety net because I've learned to ride without it. I mostly bought the bazzaz for the auto tune, the TC was just an added benifit. Oh and a QS is probably the best thing I've ever used, there's no way to compete with someone that has an equal bike with it no matter how fast you think you can shift. I have never used ABS but never felt need for it either.
