SUZUKI BANKRUPT ??? Thatis the question!

Honda Fit , Made in China for the CDN. market only.

Thats just a short term solution so they can build cars outside of Japan because of the rising yen. They still have to pay the 6.1% import duty fee for every Fit that comes from China.

Honda is building a plant in Mexico as we speak and will be making Fits there for North American markets. There will be no import duty fee from cars made in Mexico saving them a tonne of cash in the long run.

Let's hope they will be as reliable as the Made in Japan models.
"John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda, said that there were no plans to supply dealers in the United States with Chinese-made Fits." Interesting article, the yen is very strong, They mention the Mexico plant you speak of .I can see why Suzuki U.S. went down.
“Canada’s always been much more open to cars from places that it was not acceptable for the U.S.,”

Im a fan of made in Japan imported cars. IMHO, they still build them better than anybody else.

Having said that, my 14 year old made in US Accord has been serving me well with no quality issues to report.

Mazda is the only company, but not for long (I hear they have a plant in Mexico coming too), that still imports every car they make from the land of the rising sun. Maybe Subaru too japan only?

"Sports cars" are not about "pick-up" unless you're talking about trashy blondes. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Nope on both counts. Mazda only recently stopped making the 6 at the Flat Rock MI plant that they, up until recently, shared with Ford. The 6 and its predecessors were built there for a looooong time. (They are building a plant in Mexico.)

A lot of Subarus are built in Lafayette, Indiana, USA.

Mitsubishi has a plant in Normal, Illinois, USA.

My bad, I totally forgot about the Flat Rock, Michigan plant, back in the days when the Ford Probe and Mazda MX6 twins were made, and later the Mazda 6 sedan among other models.

I recall reading something about Mazda japan only models recently. From 2013 on, then, it appears that all Mazda models will be arriving from Japan until they open the Mexican plant.

It also appears Mazda will be making cars for Toyota in the new Mexican plant as well,
