Suspension Question

Is this for your Hypermotard? If it is,then you definitely need to get the sag set so that the bike isn't unbalanced anymore.Forget the damping adjustments if it has the stock sachs shock and marzocchi. The adjustments are just bling.Even with the "s" model suspension, the Hyper is a heavy streetbike with a high mass center that is easily upset when pushed hard. It's a great bike tho.Had an 09 "s" model for a few years. Also check the steering head bearings for notching and slop.Hypers are frequently abused by owners that think they are wheelie kings and land the front really hard.

Head bearings are fine. No notches.

Should I set the forks preload to stock settings? It says loosen completely and turn three times.. The guy who had the bike previous was real short so he might have messed around with those too

I'll say it again.......set the sag.

I always set new to me bikes back to stock and work from there.

Well I just reset the forks pre-load to stock setting. So the only non stock setting is the rear preload. Don't get
Me wrong this thing carves corners. I am just used to stiffer.. I guess it's the design of the bike too

You should've recorded stock settings before you touched anything. Just in case you F'ed up real bad. Plus it's good for reference

Actually after I reset the forks pre load to factory settings the bike iS GREAT. Not sure what the guy before me had but way better now.

Right now everything in the suspension is back to the factory setting accept for the rear preload, I am just going to tinker with that until I find what I like.
