Supertech R -- Anywhere they can be tried on locally?

conundrum

Well-known member
Just got back from GP Bikes, and apparently they do not stock Alpinestars Supertech Rs, and will only bring them in as a special order (meaning a 20% restock fee if they don't fit or are uncomfortable). With that said, does anyone know of a place in Toronto or Durham that stocks these where I can try them on at least for sizing? Hoping to maybe find them at the Supershow if possible.

Thanks in advance

I think Supertech Rs have already been discontinued, so it may not be possible for GP Bikes to order them at all (they may have them on catalogue, but their distributor may not have any stock left). That said, apparel manufacturers are usually consistent with boot and glove sizing, so if one Alpinestars 44-sized race boot fits, another will very likely fit the same.

I think they're still currently produced. They show as in stock for ordering on their online store at www.alpinestars.com.

After looking a little harder, they're available elsewhere on the internet, just NewEnough and SBTG don't carry them for some reason.

Sizing is consistant with the SMX-5. I tried both. As for comfort, if the SMX-5 are comfortable for you the Supertechs will be fine as well (they'll have some SMX-5 in stock).

Even so, at $500 (approx) I'd want to try on a pair before shelling out that kind of money (as I already have a different pair of boots I need to sell as they didn't fit as expected).

As for them fitting the same, I thought I saw a STG review that said the Supertech R runs slightly different than the rest of the A* lineup. I know the SMX+ in 43 fits almost like a glove, so the hope would be that the Supertech R would be the same.

Anyhow if no one knows where I can try them locally I might just have to cross my fingers someone has them at the supershow, and if not, then talk to GP Bikes about seeing what they can do about the restock fee if they don't fit/hurt (I've spent enough there in the past). Considering all the rave reviews and the fact they are a 'top tier' boot, I do find it a little odd they seem so hard to find off the net.

That's weird that GP doesn't stock them, I could have sworn I saw them there last year. They do fit a little different even compared to the previous version. Someone will have them at the show, they're definatly still in production and came out with new colours this year. Alpinestars isn't going to just drop their top of the line boot.

They have them at Riders Choice, and the pricing is good too. I got mine there.

As mentioned above Riders Choice has them, I thought I saw them at the last show (not 100% sure) so I would assume they would have them at the upcoming show. Call them and ask them if they are bringing them.
