Hey guys I have an issue with my bike almost every time I come to a stop say at a red light and put it in neutral, it gets stuck in neutral and will not go down to 1st gear most of the time it can go to 2nd gear a trick I learned from some people I talked to is roll the bike back about half a foot and then it will kick into first just fine this works most times but again sometimes it just doesn't work and I have to take off from 2nd gear. I wanted to know if this is a common issue and is there anyway to fix it or what is the cause for it? Thanks

Sounds normal. Have a experienced rider / shop take her out for a spin. And see what they have to say

it happens to me all the time. I push down on the gear lever while rolling backwards or forwards and it goes down into first every time.

My bike is finicky when i forget to downshift before stopping. I have to release the clutch a bit to get the internals moving again, and can then downshift while stopped. So try the clutch maybe?

Alright well thanks a lot guys I've had someone with a bit more experience ride it and they said it's fine and somewhat normal as well, I will try the push down on the gear lever while rolling forward or back that sounds good thanks everyone.

My old gs500 did the same. Released clutch lever, pull clutch and downshift always worked. Definitely not worth taking to a mechanic for.

Sound normal to me, first bike (Ninja 250) did that all kinds. Try to get into first before you come to a full stop. If you must have your bike in neutral at the light, which is an no no, then stop in first and click into neutral while stopped. Clicking back to first should be easy.

Completely normal, my GS does the exact same thing.

You can roll the bike forward or backwards a bit and it will go into neutral eventually. The other way that works is to slightly release the clutch lever to the friction point but not enough to stall then down into 1st. The rolling thing is kinda hard because sometimes it still won't click in.
