I know a couple of riders that have one (ZZR600). They preform very well and apparently very comfortable. The engine is based on a previous Gen ZX-6 engine. That said, it's a sport tourer a little more on the sport side.
Yeah that's about what I'm looking for as really can't afford one of the big sport tourers - even the VFR800 is out of budget for Australia and this looks a hoot on the Gillies
I've had an 07 zzr600 for three seasons. Seating position is awesome, the clip ons are lifted a bit, giving you a more upright ride position, but still allows you to get into a tucked position for more spirited riding. Seats are also the widest you can get on a sportbike, and probly the most comfortable seats you can find without modding. Ur probly not concerned about insurance pricing but 110 from SF for my first bike can't go wrong. Another plus about that bike is just the ease in which you can do most maintainance on it. With zero mechanical background, an e-copy of the service manual and a bit of a brain drain on Brian P, I just finished doing a jet kit an a valve clearance adjustment and she runs like a dream. The only thing I cannot stand about the zzr is the no fuel injection, I find it kind of a PITA when all ur peeps have fired up their bikes and they're ready to go, your sitting there playing with the choke trying warm up the carbs, lol. Other than that, I'll never part with her, I may grab other bikes in the future but this one stays right where she is. If you do end up picking up a zzr, holla at me if you need the service manual or any spare bits you may need. Hope you get it dude, it would be nice knowing I'm not the only guy in the city sitting around fiddlin' around with the choke, preheating my bike like a bakers oven, lol zzr for life!!
Unfortunately the "city" would be on the other side of the planet.
It's always warm in Cairns tho cold bike is still a cold bike.
Insurance is cheap there ( comes with the bike ) and no sales tax.
Looks like $3500 if I can get it. Will flip out the KLR650 for something with legs.
Good to know on the seating as I'm used to the DayLong on the Burgman. Also the neutral weight position is important.
We'll see if I get it.
Oh right, ur in the land of Oz! Great, the only other person willing to undertake the labour of love which is the zzr has a 22 digit phone number, lmao but for sure if you don't mind getting your hands dirty this bike got your name all over it. I've got family down there, but with my back I think the flight would either cripple or kill me. How long u been there? Don't you ever miss being shot at, ice caps and toothless pros on Kingston road? XD
The zzr600 (zx6e) was my previous bike. Same silver colour scheme as the one in your photo. I have a PDF manual if you want it, Mac. They're really undervalued machines for what they are, probably because of the 90s styling. No major complaints from me, except long distance comfort. I installed Buell pegs and added extra foam to my seat but it wasn't enough.
I'm three months in Oz and 9 months in GTA or travelling various spots.
I certainly don't miss GTA traffic at all when I'm there and don't really tolerate here. I escape north the minute I can and ride the back roads 100-300 k few times a week.
You might want to try a BeadRider for comfort - counterintuitive but it works.
