Stealth Bike Cops

Out Saturday afternoon for a ride, lots of bikes all over.

passed a couple of black Harley's heading the other direction at one point and was a bit caught off guard that they had the tone on tone stealth paint jobs.

I wasnt mis-behaving or anything, so no big deal, but this was the first time i recall seeing these. i have only seen the cars before. They are very inconspicuous until you are right up on them.

Didnt catch if they were OPP or Regional (not even sure if Regional in our area has bike cops?)

sort of looked like this:

(yes, i know it isn't an H-D, it was the closest thing I could find on google images)

much less noticable then the old style....

Stealth motorcycles..doesn't sound like a great idea.

How much does a cop motorcycle weigh? damn.

Today I waved at a bike cop - he didn't wave back </3

I was so heartbroken I had to post it on GTAM.

Was it the GTAM "Bike Cop" or just some random bike cop. GTAM's Bike Cop would have waved back ;) he is building relationships and stuff

So what's the point? Is the point of the police to encourage road safety and be visible for safety and discourage bad behaviour?
Or is the point to sneak up and catch people for heavier fines?

I do it all the time just to annoy them. They never wave back either.

you know the answer.... some time back Peel(?) had the Cop Taxi, pure ambush vehicle

I remember seeing it on a few occasions with people pulled over. I remember reading that the phone number on the roof sign was to the police staion

Except I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even have a bike........... Or was a cop.
He was arguing about certain laws that werent even true in another thread lol.

In the UK they have true stealth bike cops on sport bikes. I saw I youtube video of one once with a video camera mounted on the tank. A few years ago. They were used to catch racers speeding in the countryside villages. Funny thing is here I dont think they NEED to have stealth motorcyle cops, the average joe cant see a motorcycle as it is. and secondly most police forces in the world do their BEST to be SEEN!

But cops don't need to go to law school nor do they have to know all the laws - just match whatever the "offender" is doing to what the computer states the law is xD

Do they take these things off the road at dusk? I can't see how any insurance company would want to underwrite a policy for officers on "stealth" motorcycles patrolling the roads at night time. Recipe for a (PR) disaster.

Either way, cool bike. I'd buy it from auction, bullet holes or not. :D

Australia is in the same boat, stealth cop means "stealth cop". No markings at ALL and usually a sport bike zx10/gsxr/cbr etc etc. Even for the cars, they use modified muscle cars with aftermarket mag wheels, exhausts and tinted windows etc etc thats if they arent using just a plain stock looking mid size car like a hyundai elantra or mazda 3.

People here dont know how easy they have it on the roads... mind you the insurance consequences for getting caught doing anything wrong is insane here.

Which makes no sense, while younger drivers have more infractions and pay a fortune in insurance, its older drivers that actually cause more crashes and get into more crashes.

Don't question insurance or you will look stupid. It all makes sense, you just can't understand it.

Havent seen a bike cop squidding but have seen plain clothed cops pulling people over in a mazda 3. Oh and the speed cameras every couple kms is annoying too.
