Hey guy, I`m new here to this forum but been on Gixxers etc for over 20 years. I currently own a K8 GSXR-750 with a PCIII USB Power Commander, slip on Two Bros can, Pazzo levers and K&N Air filter. I Totally LOVE this setup but want a little more off the line for track days etc. I decided after a lot of research to go with JT all metal sprockets front and rear. I`m going -1 on the front(16) and +2 on the rear(47). This is where I have major concerns. Quite a few people online have reported a noise or vibe coming from the countershaft sprocket after the change out. I am sticking with the original size chain and have a new 525 D.I.D XV link. Both sprockets are a 525 pitch matched set. As most of you know, the factory OEM front sprocket on this bike has a heavy duty rubber dampener epoxied to one side of it, the JT does not have this dampener. If I change just the rear +2 sprocket will the bottom end be noticeable and help with fast line starts and power wheelies alone, or do I need to do the front sprocket as well. What experience have you guys had here doing this popular mOD ? I would love to know whos done it and did it cause any noticeable sounds or vibes. Basically, is there a huge noticeable difference by leaving the front stock and just upping the rear ??? Thanks a lot guys...

I've never noticed it, you'll be fine.

If your exhaust is loud you won't notice it. It's best to change both the sprockets anyway with a new chain. And -1 on the front will have a bigger change than the +2 on the rear, so go for both.

On average +3 in the rear = -1 in the front (Give or take)
The only problem is adding teeth in the rear will throw off your stock chain length.

If he goes with the -1 in front and +2 on the rear the stock chain length could be used. At least it was for me on my SV1000.

OP also remember that this will throw out your speedo. If you're concerned grab a SpeedoHealer.

i have that set up on my k4 gsxr 600. no noises, with stock chain length. There was a noise with the chain flapping around on first gear start up but that was when my chain was too loose, once i tightened it to spec it was fine.

and as DVS said yea u need a speedohealer.
i have the SpeedoDRD
works great, also records stuff like your top speed =p
