Spies leaves Yamaha

yea enough with ducati....gotta see rossi on a capable bike...enough is enough

mind you he is creeping up every race. i just hate seeing the doctor on a bike that is not as competitive

man, give rossi one of those tech 3 or gresini bikes and hed be in podium constant
 
Maybe Rossi's more capable team mate should get it... Although it's been developed for Jorge so I don't think it would suit Nick.

I thought Dovi would prefer Honda, Stoner's spot isn't filled yet is it? Other than this link I haven't seen anything about who's going where.

Marquez is going to Repsol Honda. As for Cal, he's doing well but he does not under any circumstances deserve that factory Yamaha ride.
 
The off season looks like it's going to be more interesting then the actual races.
 
Considering how Crutchlow fared with his dodgy ankle he's done very well, beside's Dovi already had his factory ride.

Worth taking a long shot wager for Melandri at Yamaha in 2013?

That's great to say that Dovi already had his shot but you can't honestly believe that they should give it to someone who is doing less with the same bike...

Talk about already having your shot. Melandri is just starting to show what he's capable of in WSBK. He'd be crazy to leave.

BMW Italia is taking over next yr for WSBK.

I don't think that bike will be anywhere near as competitive as the one he's on right now.

Besides, if a factory ride becomes available at Moto GP, wsbk gets forgotten very quickly.

I don't know where they're going to go. WSB is already saturated with less and less factory teams every year. Factory BMW is being rolled into BMW Italia for next season.

There are currently not enough teams for all the capable riders out there in any series.

I feel for Spies. He looked to be the best talent MotoGP had seen in quite a few years. He even won a race in dominating fashion at assen last year and narrowly missed out at Valencia. This season has just been a disaster for him though.

I would like to see Crutchlow at Yamaha even though Dovi has been doing better so far this season. Realistically they have been pretty close all season.

BMW Italia is still going to be factory backed, engine and electronics all coming from BMW direct, where as chassis will developments and team management will come from Italia. I think the reason why BMW is doing this is because of the success that Andrea Dosoli has brought to the BMW Motorrad team. The whole bloody factory team operation is basically Italian at this point, but the equipment is German. That's why it'd make sense to consolidate as long as Andrea and his team goes to Italia next year (safe to assume). It's still considered the factory BMW team just like how Kawasaki this year is being run by Provec Motocard.

Dovi going to WSBK would be interesting, but where would he land would be the question. I think he deserves to be in MotoGP, and if he doesn't get a ride in MotoGP (even if it's a CRT) then it shows the series is far too political. How could a rider with 3 podiums this year on a satellite bike mind you, not land a ride the following year? Politics! (money)

Spies leaving Yamaha puts some validity to the rumours of Rossi on a factory Yamaha under his own team, but all this speculation will be put to a rest in a few days anyway.

Rossi (with Monster / Coke sponsorship) to Yamaha
Marquez to Honda
Spies TBC tomorrow in pre-Leguna conference. I can see him back at Tech 3 with Dovi actually.
Dovi (throwing toys out of the pram)....big mistake to go down to WSBK. That's for second tier riders or pensioners, or the odd hot talent coming up. But once you go down, there is no coming back! Besides, ex GP riders like Melandri, Checa, and Biaggi wont make it easy for Dovi to shine....and just imagine if Spies finds his way back down there. Dovi should shut up and take the most competitive bike he can in GP. If you can't win 3 races on a factory ride per season you on shaky ground to hold a factory ride. Dovi has not proven his status as a factory rider when he had the chance, and teams would rather promote up and coming talent than given him a shot. He needs to win 2 races on a satelite to break the stigma surrounding him.
Hayden (I'm guessing WSBK or more likely a satelite offer of some kind. Maybe Pramac when they leave Ducati. Maybe a CRT offer.)

And before anyone doubts SBK is second tier, consider that the owners of Dorna (MotoGP) bought SBK and they will not allow that series to trump MotoGP. It also allows them to fiddle with the licencing rights and bring production engines into MotoGP, whereas before SBK was grumbling about production bike rights which would have left MotoGP high and dry and too expensive to continue. Since the buy out, one management company has the say and they will never allow MotoGP to play second fiddle to SBK. Top that off with the reality that SBK has been having as much budget cuts as MotoGP, rather than rising above SBK in funding and sponsorship. The loss of factory teams like, Ducati, Yamaha, and now this issue with BMW, and even Kawi, along with a possible 1 bike rule are taking SBK down a peg or two, keeping it under MotoGP.

Cal and Ianone? Where did you come up with that one? lol Ianone won't be moving to GP next year.
Rossi - Yamaha would be shooting themselves in the foot by giving Rossi a bike. Rossi and Jorge would end up taking points from each other leaving the door open for Pedrosa. It looks like Rossi's best/only option is to stay with Ducati.
Marquez - Done deal
Spies - If you remember, he didn't just say he was leaving the factory team, he said he was leaving Yamaha. He'll either go somewhere in wsbk or Suzuki will make an early return to GP with him as lead rider.
Dovi - Could move to the factory team but I suspect he'll stay where he is.
Hayden - He has already flatly refused the idea of a CRT ride.

There is no doubt that WSBK is second tier. However, It's not like digging ditches. For some, the lure of winning is wsbk vs. fighting for 6th in GP may be a very attractive option.
