Speciality Leather Jacket Alterations

Not too sure if I'm posting in the right place but here goes!

Prior to riding I received a beautiful Dianese leather jacket as a hand-me-down gift from a close friend for one day that I will be riding on my own.

Unfortunately the jacket does not want to fit me as it is too large on the arms (the elbow padding is not in the right placement) and the upper chest area is loose. However it does fit around my torso area.

i do not want to get rid of the jacket since there is a huge sentimental value to it..

Does anybody know of a reputable place where they do special alterations to bike jackets?
or is it not worth the cost/trouble and I should just buy a brand new jacket?

Buy a jacket that fits.

This isn't a fashion item, they are stitched differently than typical leather jackets.

Dainese is not fashion leather and John is not a seamstress. He fixes bike gear so it fits. Not a miracle worker but he can shorten stuff to a degree and put better armour in that will actually fit.

I as referring to Doc's.

You want a racing leather specialist, but it sounds like there are many areas of fit problems, which means a new jacket may likely be cheaper. It sounds like the whole jacket needs to be rebuilt.

This is a tough one. Deconstructing a leather jacket is all hand work, technical, time consuming and therefore expensive. Major alterations to critical seams such as in the shoulder to sleeve area could potentially weaken the jacket.

Let us determine if alterations are possible. How old is the jacket? Does the shoulder to shoulder width fit you? When you say "it is too large on the arms" does this mean the circumference of the sleeve is too large, or does this mean the sleeve length is too long? Does the jacket have an inner liner?

But as for the jacket, it seems like it's got a few years (maybe 5-6 years old?)
The shoulder fit is too large and the arms are too wide, so that leather tightness is not there. The chest area itself is big (lol, I'm not gaining any weight for this). Also, the elbow armour does not sit right under my elbows. I know over time leather does stretch out and soften. And there is no liner, I guess my friend gave it to me as is. I understand the technicality of altering a motorcycle jacket and it would probably work out better if I bought one that fit me perfectly. I'm in love with Dainese so my investment would be worthwhile.

I appreciate the feedback everybody! :D
