Sideswiped at roughly 40KM/H

Here I am minding my own business heading along Dundas right past Appleby Line when some retard decides to cut two lanes of traffic into my lane. I was in the far left lane in the blocking position and they were in the far right lane. It happened pretty fast, but my god I am truly thankful for the dirt experience I have gotten recently AND riding an enduro. I sit so high up, my armored boot went into their door panel. Despite the cars best efforts I remained completely upright, and shrugged it off. I have a feeling if I was on a street bike the outcome would have been disastrous to say the least. Why in the heck didn't I bring my Ghost-S with me!? The whole point of buying it was in case something like this happens. Lazy me didn't even bring it *sigh*

Did I mention wearing gear goes a long way? My foot and leg were completely unscathed. I wonder what sort of damage, if any the car received... I did hear a "thump" ... "crunch" noise when the car hit me.


The driver was courteous enough to slow down and wave at me to apologize........................... I didn't stop them, because I had a feeling their head would be removed with my feet. Adrenaline + Seething Anger wouldn't go over well .. ;)


Moral of the story? WEAR PROPER GEAR! You never know when some **** can go down, and you can NEVER trust other drivers. Also some basic off-road experience goes a longgg way.

Glad you're OK, I know it's not a competition but some guy in econobox with utility trailer did a last second 4 lane u-ee on me and buddy yesterday afternoon. He was riding KLR650, so him holding us back probably saved the day. It's a jungle out there.
 
We're they coming out of the Walmart plaza heading west? I've had a few close calls there in the past with dumb ass drunk drivers who are leaving the restaurants in that plaza that feel the need to make a 3 lane right turn.

Glad to hear that you are well physically. Not to dump on you but you should have stopped them and gotten the information for two reasons. With the adrenaline flowing thru you it is difficult to know if you are injured. What if you had been injured, who would pay for the treatment? Secondly, careless drivers need to pay for their actions. If we allow them to get away with their ignorance, the next thing we see is one of them complaining on an Internet forum about how they have been wronged by the police by being charged when they are a great driver, never having had a "ticket or collision".

As I have already said, glad you are well physically.
 
Had a similar situation happen to me years ago when a Young Drivers of Canada instructor (no student in car) who was on her cell phone, didn't pay attention when turning left in a residential area. I was on the horn when she started turning, but it was my boot hitting her passenger door that finally got her attention... she looked over and sped off! I was amazed, but I got the plate number, and called up the local YD office... had a long, angry conversation with a supervisor that resulted in me getting a written apology from the instructor.

You're right.. I should have stopped them (My fiancee wasn't happy with me)

I should mention that they didn't stop and I would have had to forcefully go in-front and stop them. Considering they already hit me and continued going......

I did do the toe curl, and leg shake to see if it was 100% mobile. I'm pretty confident if I felt there was damage to me/bike at the time I would have stopped them.

More than anything the incident just shook me up.

I was headed North on Dundas, just past Appleby Line.

I can't remember the model.. I got them a long time ago. I would like new boots, but these are still waterproof and have never let me down ;)

I know a rider who had a guy in a mini van merge in his lane.. Was on his horn a d everything.. So only escape was to accelerate.. Which cause the rear foot peg to catch on the front fender of the minivan and was torn right off..! Lol. Thankfully those vans are built like crap and vstroms are sold bikes.
 
I was thinking since cars have a radar lane change device now, wouldn't it be cool to have a radar activated horn on a motorcycle that sounds when another vehicle enters your lane space? Saturday was a really bad day for accidents. People all happy in the weather driving like maniacs.

Interesting Idea! Unfortunately I was on the horn as they were entering my space... didn't make any difference. They only found out when I hit their door. People can be so oblivious ;(

Air horns are your friend. 130-140dB of "HEY *******!!!!!!!!"
 
Damn Chase, glad you're okay man. You're the 3rd person I know who has been hit this season so far. I had a lady turn into and bump me downtown a few weeks ago.... Her rear door on the SUV didn't survive the incident after my boot went crashing into it a few times. She didn't stick around to chat either.
 
You got hit by a car and just kept going and didn't do anything to the driver? Damn.

Personally I'd be calling the cops. These idiots need to be off the road.

It's not a "bad idea" to have one installed, but it doesn't always help. I have had a few people cut me off last year regardless of the use of the air horn. I knew that they heard it but chose to act anyway from the change in their body language (tensed up).
 
This is why you want to have the camera mounted to the bike and a GATLING GUN MOUNTED TO THE FRAME!!!! POS CAGERS!!!!
