Hey Guys,

Thanks for looking in!
I was just hoping if anyone had any information on where/how I can get my Bike shipped (or transported by other means).
I am looking to have it shipped from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Toronto.

I tried searching GTAM and found some people doing it. Is there any organized way of doing this that does not cost an arm and a leg?
It's not that I don't trust random people that I have never met before, but... :) Just kidding.

Riding it is not an option, nor is renting a uHaul, because it will murder me with gas price and time/distance.

Thank you!

P.S Sorry if there is a thread and I missed it. In my defense, I tried searching first :)
Please direct me to it, if there is one

Do you have any vehicles that can tow a light trailer? The open motorcycle uhaul trailer is only $15 per 24 hours, or slightly more if you're not returning it to its original location: http://www.uhaul.com/Trailers/Motorcycle-Trailer-Rental/MT/

Getting uhaul to install a trailer hitch on your vehicle and towing it yourself would be cheaper than paying any company to do it.

thanks for the reply.
I do have a SUV however driving 3 days there and back is really not something I can do. :(

I don't have any experience with it, but I can remember reading in a few places that most Harley dealers are well versed in shipping customers' bikes around. Something about Harley owners wanting to vacation with their bikes without having to go to the trouble of actually riding them!

Might be worth a phone call.

I think you missed the part about it being one way. I just got a random quote from uhaul in June from Saskatoon to Toronto and it was $320 (you get 7 days). Drop off the trailer in Toronto, no need to take it back.

I imagine that's still considerably cheaper than having it shipped.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies.
Yeah, Uhaul is just not an option. Not willing to drive down there at all.
I looked at some freight options and I got a very reasonable quote - $335. But I am not sure how "safe" it is. I mean do they have proper stands/ropes to tie the bike down.
Any one ever try that ?

None of us can answer that you would have to call and ask whichever company you pan to go with. every company is going to have different equipment/standards. Just like tow companies... Not all of them have bike towing equipment. Unless they transport bikes regularly, they are unlikely to have all the proper equipment.

Of more concern is that your not going to be at the pick up location. Let say the bike arrives here and has some scratches on it, or a cracked fairing, how do you prove that they weren't there when the bike was picked up?

Hey!

Yeah, you're absolutely right. I was just wondering if anyone knew or had used such a service (as I have not, ever) and there were some general FAQ's that I was oblivious to.
My brother is over there and seen the bike and sent a lot of pictures/videos, so It should not be a problem. The seller is a family friend also, so not many issues.
But, if there is anything (enough to be noticeable), it should be identifiable through previous pictures.

Thanks for your input though!

I have been looking into this, as I'm looking to ship from Vancouver to Toronto. All major logistics company do it. Some want you to crate it, strap it and deliver it and others can do it for you. For crates, you can go to any bike shop and ask for one and you'll probably get it for free or pay $50 bucks. I stopped looking as I'm going to go with the Air Canada option ($900 one way from YVR to YYZ). AC does not work out for you as it's only available at Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal now.

Go to advrider.com and search for "bike shipping canada". Few threads with good info.
