Shark helmet owners..size q

I have an RSI, RSR2 and an evoline 2 helmet all in M and I'm obviously a fan of Shark helmets. Just wondering if the newer ones, the visonR, raceR etc are all true to previous size/head shapes too. I know I can read the web bike world reviews just wondering if anyone has had older and newer shark helmets and can chime in?

i fancy a fresh lid for the season.

I'm typically between an L and an XL and I fit just fine into a Large Speed-R and Vision-R. Never tried a Race-R.

I've worn medium in every helmet I've ever had and I'm a medium in the Race-R Pro.

I love my RSR2. Went to GP with cash for a Race-R to replace it with and found the size similar (M) but the fit was different. Whereas the RSR2 fit me perfect (as does a Shoei RF1100, Corsair V, etc) the Race-R had a lot of pressure on the front of my head. Had to walk away disappointed. New HJC RPHA-10 fits the same as the RSR2 etc so give it a shot (really nice lid and excellent price).

Thats interesting that it didn't fit you. I came from the RPHA and was undecided on the corsair and race-r pro. I had both of them in my hands, on and off my head for 45min before I decided. I also picked up the RF1100 for my dad for Xmas (we have the same head shape/size).

Is that your size in older shark helmets? Or just generally.

Haven't tried older Sharks.

I surmise that your head is a bit like mine i.e. oblong/long oval. I'm a large in every helmet that fits that category, and an extra-large in more neutral shapes like the Arai RX-Q/Vector 2.

Those newer Sharks seem true to size.

This vid might be worth a watch (especially for the OP):

Pretty sure I was trying on a '12 model and per this vid the '13 got a host of upgrades and different fit. I may go back and try the updated one and see if it fits me better.

Heard this before when I was looking to upgrade my RSR2. Ended up with a Bell RS-1 which fits similarly. RPHA10 has a similar head shape too.

my S700 fits true to size. I wear M with Arai corsair and Shoei RX-7.
Now my Shark is my favourite helmet out of all of them in terms of comfort.

I had an Evoline 2, and now have a 3 in M. Tried on the Vision R & Speed R in M. Vision R seamed to be shaped for a slightly more rounded head. Speed R fit perfect so bought it. Didn't try the Race R.

How do you like the Speed R? The blurb on the site says "designed for non-faired bikes", guess it doesn't matter if you have a windhshield does it? I have some fancy dancy adjustable gizmo on my Tiger.

I picked it up in Feb, and rode with it for the first time today. Definitely lighter and quieter than my Evoline 3. Cuts through the air nicely with no buffeting when I do a shoulder check at highway speeds. I have a relatively upright riding position and an adjustable windscreen. I had the windscreen fully up on the 401 this morning. No problem with my head up, but if I bent down into the wind, I'd get some wind noise through the top spoiler (top vent closed). Not sure if that was because of the windscreen, or the angle of my head to the oncoming wind. I'll try it on the way home with the windscreen in a lower position.

It comes with a pinlock shield, which I put in. No fogging of the shield, but a had to pull over to remove the nose guard because it was sending my breath directly to my glasses and fogging them up. Pulling the nose guard solved the problem, but I still had to open the visor at stops.

Thanks for the write up, I'll probably look into getting one of these. My Evoline 2 is heavy but it's still good for a while yet.

Took the long way home and tried the wind screen in different positions. With it fully down, I can lean a little more forward, but the Speed R still gets a higher pitched wind noise from the rear spoiler if you get into the dropped position of an SS over 110 kph. Great for a naked or more upright bike. Would get annoying after a while on an SS if you ride bent over looking just under the brow.
