Not sure of the road .. but head east out of Buena Vista and that road replicates the "dragon".

It also takes you to the Blue Ridge parkway as well. What a great road. Do watch out for deer if your on it first thing in the AM or in the evening.

That road that connects Buena Vista to the BRP is 60 and it's fun. I always plan a stop in Buena Vista just to run this road. The last time it had some gravel in a couple of corners and a police cruiser waiting for misbehaving Canadian riders. There are some real gems off the BRP and they usually have great elevation changes. I don't know why but there's some added fun when riding up hill.
 
We drove the mountains of WV, VA and into NC to and from our trip to FL recently.

Even in the car the main highways wind all though the mountains, with huge elevation changes. I think the highest point we hit was over 3500 feet vs the 250-300 ft elevation here.

Unfortunatley both the trip there and back we passed this area in the dark. Would be amazing to travel this area in the daylight
