Rubber shift sock -- buy locally vs online?

conundrum

Don't want to destroy my new boots, so I'm looking into getting a 'shift sock' (or whatever they are called) for added protection:

I've checked both GP and Royal and they don't seem to stock them -- Does anyone have any clue where to get one locally or should I just amazon/ebay it?

Thanks in advance

So if your local shop is selling it for $24.99, you would rather pay $20 + shipping and handling and wait a few days for it to arrive?
Come on guys, one the best shop in the GTA closed after 20+ years in business because of this kind of mentality. It's time to support those closest to you. Just saying, sorry for the mini-rant.

If its $5 difference id probably buy local. But most high ticket items are more then few $$ cheaper online.

If you're really worried about local shops go protest to parts canada to be competitive to USA prices.

There are local shops that compete quite well with US stores. Blue Streak Racing is one of them, he will always match or beat US prices, including those "big ticket" items.

I bought mine direct from the company, had it in a week. Works as advertised, I had a rough edge on the shifter which was marking up my boots - no longer :)

try giving Docs on Queen a call.. Last time I was in I thought I saw some. Another spot might be Motocycle on Ossington.

If you bought boots that will get destroyed by a shifter, take them back. If you buy decent boots they come with a shift pad on them.

this. That thing is just for squids who want to keep their shiny white Air Forces or Jordans looking clean.

What's wrong with wearing Air Forces or Jordans while riding? I don't usually wear my sneakers while riding, but will do so once in a while around town on short runs and what not.

Get off your high horse, bud.

I bought mine direct from Rider clips. Works perfect to protect my puma testastrettas.

and let's not turn this into a local vs online argument.

Short runs, eh? My boot survived dragging on asphalt. I wonder how your sneakers will survive that - will probably deteriorate over the first couple of feet, then it will be your nice flesh and bones.

If you want to feel perfectly safe, drive a car. I'm not advocating squid or ATGATT, however, there is nothing wrong with squidding it every once in a while.

I did not say anything about ATGATT. Read my post again. You asked what's wrong with wearing Jordans, and I answered - you fall in those Jordans, just be mentally prepared to lose your toes. That's all,.
