So I'm planning a trip down to Tail of the Dragon in late August. Have had a few road blocks thrown in the way including an accident last Friday that put the bike into the shop for a bit (hit by a car). But hopefully that will all get sorted out and I will be back on two wheels soon enough.
I was just wondering for those of you that have taken the trip down there, which way did you go? Is it better to take the I-75 through Detroit, or The I-79 and leave through Buffalo? Is there any "must see" places or roads on the way down there? We are planning to stop a few times and break the 1200Km trip up into 2 days each way. 4 days for travelling and stopping along the way & two days having some fun down at the Tail and some of the other areas around it.
If there is anything worth seeing or going slightly out of the way for I wouldn't mind extending the trip a little. One of my friends is going to do the trip in his evo so I won't have anything but me on the bike. Was almost considering trailering the bike and taking the SUV with me. Then just doing a straight drive there with more time to explore once we get down near the tail.
Right now I only have a rough outline for the trip so any suggestions are appreciated!!
