If you have to pull off onto the shoulders of the 407 be aware that in some places the drop from pavement to gravel is enough to throw some bikes / riders. Apparently there are standards that aren't being followed and there have been incidences.

Standards aren't being followed or too low to save money at the expense of safety. I have noticed the lack of advance or better warning of lanes ending during construction. Old lane markers mixed up with new or none at all.

Reminds me of my written driver test where they ask what you do when you go from paved surface to gravel.
They didn't like me writing on the side of the card: I ride dirt bike drop a gear and ride a wheelie. Holy what a smart ass 16 yo kid I was, I'm so lucky they didn't fail me!
