Riding with a cold/Flu?

Not sure what the hell is going on. So many people had or have colds/flus. In summer, wtf? On monday I came down with it and I am still getting over it. It got to the point I chose to drive rather than ride to work. I know some will say, stay home, but I came down with it after talking to a guy at work on monday. He indicated to someone else he was getting over a head cold. This is not just isolated to my work, my neighbor and his daughter got over one last week. Is anyone else getting over a cold/flu? Did you continue to ride? I couldn't do it, with the wind noise and the heat of a full face helmut during a heat wave was to much of a physical strain.

I thought cold #1 was going to get me, but it was just messing with me. Then cold #2 came out of nowhere and hit me.

I got the flu last week too!! messed up my weekend.

I still managed to ride for a bit with my head stuffed

It's a nasty bug - I suspect it's flu - the coughing goes on way too long. :(
Made me miserable for a couple weeks.

Didn't know there was a flu bug going around. Lucky so far. Allergies have been bad this month though. Grass pollen and mold spores in July. Gets worse when I ride, probably because of the increased air exposure at speed.

I would take it easy and stay off the bike when sick OP. The sickness tires you out affecting balance, awareness, reaction time...all the good stuff

The way I am seeing and hearing people having or had a cold/flu makes me wonder if there is a wave of something happening. I don't ever remember getting a cold in the middle of hot summer weather.

i went to pick up my bike yesterday with a cold.. still feeling sore from the nervousness of riding for the first time in traffic and the cold.

If the cold isn't affecting me mentally (I can still think clear/react just as fast as normal---or just slightly slowed down) I'll still ride. If it ****s with my reaction time, I won't ride. I get into enough dangerous situations already... lol

If you ride, just don't sneeze inside your helmet.

Better yet.

Ya just came down with it tuesday. Other people at work mentioned friends getting sick. Too many sick all at once. Has to be a bio attack. Ride while you can.

I think it's smog and allergies related. I've been marking down when I get sick throughout the year for a few years now - and it turns out right around the same period of time. For me - late April/Early May, and right around when it starts getting hot and humid.

This year, I went down south late April when all the weeds were growing here - didn't get sick. Also, when it goes above 30 degrees I'm taking the train. So far haven't been sick yet.

how exactly is one supposed to *not* sneeze inside your helmet?? my allergies are bad, and i have sneezed in my helmet several times. thankfully only a couple times did it get...messy. not cool.
most times i open my visor and shove my gloved hand over my mouth to try and cover the sneeze, but to simply say 'just don't sneeze in your helmet'?? do you have a trick to prevent sneezing in your helmet?
